“No.” He replied, his voice muffled by paper. “Nobody…” Charles reinforced. Dropping the parchment to the table, he smiled a bit.
Rhye raised his brow, taking the hint. "Okay, okay. I shouldn't have asked. But listen- I've been your friend for six and a half years now," He nodded slowly, "if there's something you want to talk about, you know you can talk to me right?" Rhye couldn't help but feel concerned. "I am a muggle-born, you know." He teased. "There isn't anything that could surprise me, even coming from my best friend."
Smiling, he nodded again, confirming his statements. "And don't try that 'it's a long story' thing with me. You know I have all the time in the world when it comes to you." He grinned warmly, running his hand through his hair lazily. "You're the best."

Charles sighed, leaning into the couch as if wanting to disappear, he knew he could trust Rhye, but he didn’t want to make things awkward or anything!
"if there's something you want to talk about, you know you can talk to me right?" Rhye couldn't help but feel concerned. "I am a muggle-born, you know." He teased. "There isn't anything that could surprise me, even coming from my best friend."
Charles nodded slowly…
HE listened to his friend say a few more things that made him just want to grin, but he sighed. “Thanks Rhye, you are too.” He smiled wanly, “I’ll tell you I guess…” He muttered, barely loud enough for Rhye to hear.
“I’m gay.” He whispered, looking up with one eye closed as if ready to take anything thrown at him. His messy hair flopped a bit and he bit his lip, looking conflicted.

“Thanks Rhye, you are too.” He smiled, “I’ll tell you I guess…” He muttered, barely loud enough for Rhye to hear. “I’m gay.” He whispered.
Rhye looked at him for a moment, not knowing what to say. He slowly began to smile, mimicking the sheepish grin Charles always wore. He didn't know why he was smiling like that- he just knew that Charles trusted him enough to tell him something like that. Rhye scooted closer a tad, his voice lowering to a whisper.
"Am I the only one.... you, you know, told?" He asked, his eyes sincere. He wasn't one to judge anyone, especially not his best friend. He just continued to look optimistic, his body language radiating acceptance, true acceptance.
Rhye had a huge heart that knew pain and knew difference. Charles being gay was like Rhye being a "mudblood." He was isolated from the majority of the School because of a simple difference. It was comforting to know that he wasn't the only one who felt alone sometimes, even if for different reasons.

Charles was ready to stand up and leave when he saw the beginnings of a smile, but the he relaxed, realizing that Rhye was just being Rhye.
"Am I the only one.... you, you know, told?"
Charles nodded with a smile, “I’ve only just realized it myself…” He laughed, relieved that his friend was taking this so well. If they had been in Slythering, Charles would probably have been beaten up for being gay, just like his friend would have been beaten up for being muggle born.
“Thank you Rhye, for being you know… Understanding.” Charles said, happy to get something so stressful off of his chest and be accepted for who he really was.

Rhye shook his head. "Don't thank me, Charles." Rhye flashed him a smile, laughing with him for a moment. "I'm so glad you trust me that much. I know it's a lot to get off your chest."
He dug deep inside himself, relating to the fact that he never tells anyone about his friends being killed when he was little, or his personal struggles with being different himself. "I know how it feels." He looked down, playing with the buttons on his shirt.

Charles smiled again, “I’ll always trust you, you’re really a great guy.” He was sincere, then, “Ophelia is really lucky.” He joked, grinning and leaning out of the way just in case a pinch or something came his way. "I know how it feels." Once again, Charles looked up, “Now that we’re playing ‘let you’re secrets out’ do you have anything that you need to get off of your chest that you haven’t already told me?” He asked with a smile. OOC: ACK! Sorry for shortnessssss, I've done wayyy too much writing today

“I’ll always trust you, you’re really a great guy.” He was sincere, then, “Ophelia is really lucky.”
Rhye's face heated up. He went to playfully punch Charles on the leg, lightly of course. "You little punk." He sneered, laughing hard. His hands rested on the back of the couch, sitting facing Charles, his eyes locked on his friend.
“Now that we’re playing ‘let you’re secrets out’ do you have anything that you need to get off of your chest that you haven’t already told me?”
Rhye gulped, nodding somewhat.
"When you were little, did you have a best friend? I had five. They were my life. And one morning we were supposed to go on a field trip," Rhye's eyes lowered, "we were supposed to go together. I was too sick with a bad fever- and that evening when they were supposed to get dropped off, I waited at my window."
"My Mom told me they got hurt coming home, and I cried all that night. It turns out they got into a bad bus wreck on their way home. They all died that night, in the hospital. Every last one of them, while I- the mudblood too sick to go- was at home. I didn't talk for weeks."

"You little punk." “Nah, you love me.” Charles replied with a grin, punching him back just as lightly on the arm.
"When you were little, did you have a best friend? I had five. They were my life. …
Charles listened closely to what his best friend had to say, feeling more and more sorry for his friend. He reached over, patting Rhye on the back softly.
“I’m so sorry…” Charles felt like he was a poor substitute for five childhood friends, but he would do his best!
He sat there quietly for a moment before speaking up, “Now you have one awesome friend and a girlfriend.” He responded with a grin to comfort him.

“Nah, you love me.” Charles replied with a grin.
Rhye chuckled quietly, and after he had told his secrets, Charles patted him on the back. “I’m so sorry…” Rhe shook his head slowly.
"Don't be! So, when everything calmed down at home, I had started blaming myself. Like, what if my magical powers had somewhat interfered and caused it? It was around the same time I was starting to get them." He frowned, a tear forming in his eye. Rhye blinked it away.
It was awfully quiet for a moment or two, and Rhye had no problem with it indeed. It was a respectable silence.
“Now you have one awesome friend and a girlfriend.”
He laughed quietly and punched Charles again, a big grin on his face. "And I am the luckiest guy on the Earth because so."

Once again Charles patted his friend on the back, nobody deserved to lose friends or family members, he knew what it felt like.
“And yes, you are the luckiest guy on earth, excluding me of course.” Charles grinned, but soon his smile slipped, the memory of his sister’s death crossed his mind at the thought of Rhye’s losses.
He hadn’t told anyone of how he felt about it, not even Rhye. Margret had been his best friend and sister since she could talk and he missed her greatly.
“You remember how I told you that my sister died, and then for a few months didn’t really speak to anyone or do any school work?” He asked Rhye, turned his face towards him.
“Well, I felt completely lost without her, she had been the best thingy in my life, always happy, but after she got sick and die I don’t think I could handle it. It was the thought of the friends and mother that I would be leaving behind if I left that kept me at school and eventually got me back to being me.”

“And yes, you are the luckiest guy on earth, excluding me of course.”
Rhye chuckled softly, leaning into his friend's pat on the back comfortably. "You really are the best. Thank you so much for being there for me. It's sad you wasted your time on someone like me." Rhye winked, a small smile on his lips.

Rhye shook his head, his jaw was dropped. "I'm... so sorry." He looked down, but then right back up. He put his hand on Charles' shoulder for a moment. "That's what I felt like, and kind of still do, sometimes." He hugged his friend towards him, ruffling his hair playfully, trying to lighten the mood, before letting him go again.
"My parents want me to do good, so I feel like I have to try. And now that Ophelia is in the picture, and we've connected on a whole new level," he sighed, "I couldn't see myself losing any of you guys, ever."

"You really are the best. Thank you so much for being there for me. It's sad you wasted your time on someone like me."
“I could have done worse, believe me. “ Charles replied with a straight face, but his eyes gave way to the smile that meant he was joking.
He shrugged when Rhye apologized for something that wasn’t his fault or anybodies really. Sickness came from nature, not from the people who cared for Margret.
Charles grinned, pulling away from the hug when his hair got messed up but not expecting to actually be let go, which he was. He collapsed back into the couch, smiling again, thankful that he had such a great friend as Rhye.
"My parents want me to do good, so I feel like I have to try. And now that Ophelia is in the picture, and we've connected on a whole new level," he sighed, "I couldn't see myself losing any of you guys, ever."
Charles punched him lightly in the side for having messed up his already messy hair as he listened. “I can’t imagine ever losing anybody ever again, and yet every day the thought crosses through my mind that it is a possibility during these times of Death Eaters and stuff…” He smiled, trying to lighten his words.
“And as for parents, mum loves me any way I am and dad isn’t around anymore.” He paused, wondering if he should continue, “Is it bad that I’m relieved that he’s gone, that I’ve lost that demanding, oppressive force in my family?” Charles lowered his eyes, when his father died he had been sad, it was family after all, but at the same time he had been intensly relieved to be free of him. The man had kept him doing exactly what he wanted for years of his life and being free of that weight had made him feel light as a feather after the funeral.

Rhye felt the hair on the back of his neck stand up, a frown on his face. "Death Eaters won't take me from you, Ophelia.. anybody." His eyes were terrified but his face was really calm.
“And as for parents, mum loves me any way I am and dad isn’t around anymore.” He paused. “Is it bad that I’m relieved that he’s gone, that I’ve lost that demanding, oppressive force in my family?”
He shook his head. "You shouldn't have be be oppressed or forced into anything, regardless of it being your father." He nodded, a smile on his face. "My Dad and Mom are simple people. They love me with everything they have because they can't have any other children. Sometimes, I wish that they could. The pressure is all on me to do good and succeed." He chuckled. "It's a good thing I have... somewhat of a brain."

"Death Eaters won't take me from you, Ophelia.. anybody."
“They better not,” Charles said, his eyes fierce, “I wouldn’t let them if they tried.” He was sitting straight, strong. If any of his friends were taken from his by the Death Eaters he wasn’t sure what he was going to do, fight them maybe?
"You shouldn't have be be oppressed or forced into anything, regardless of it being your father."
“I know, and now that I can do what I want within reason it’s great! Siblings are difficult though, there is always that need to take care of them, to worry about them and there is always this sense that it is your fault if something happens to them.
"It's a good thing I have... somewhat of a brain."
“Don’t fool yourself Rhye, you’re a genius! You just need to learn to concentrate a bit better and you’ll be top of the class, below me.” Charles grinned again.

“They better not,” Charles said, his eyes fierce, “I wouldn’t let them if they tried.” He was sitting straight, strong.
"I'd hope not." He scoffed, a frown on his face. "I know that you probably don't have a worry about yourself being pureblood, but I worry about my family everyday. Whether they're okay, of if they're upset- I wish I knew what they were thinking.." He sighed. "Its sometimes scary being away. Especially around holidays and such. I know they get lonely. I can tell from their letters." He felt tears welling up, but he breathed heavy, fighting them back.
“I know, and now that I can do what I want within reason it’s great! Siblings are difficult though, there is always that need to take care of them, to worry about them and there is always this sense that it is your fault if something happens to them."
He chuckled. "Yeah, I had no pets either, so I had basically no responsibility except chores." He raised his brows.
“Don’t fool yourself Rhye, you’re a genius! You just need to learn to concentrate a bit better and you’ll be top of the class, below me.” Charles grinned again.
"Maybe in my dream." He winked, smiling. "Snape hates my guts- I swear." He shook his head in disbelief. "I do potions perfectly- but I never get any recognition!"
