Because she couldn't sleep, Ophelia rolled out of bed well before sun up and dragged herself into the bathroom to ready for the day. It was a Saturday and Ophelia was looking forward to the Hogsmeade weekend. Rhye had been extremely busy lately, his school work piling up, but this weekend was supposed to be just herself and Rhye. She would be terribly upset if their plans were ruined. The sun finally peaked as the Hufflepuff left the Common Room and headed for the Great Hall. She readjusted her messenger bag, effectively running into an older and much larger Slytherin. He sneered at her, and after mumbling a quick apology, Ophelia sped through the school to breakfast.
The day was young, and upon arrival Ophelia realized that she may be eating alone. Rhye certainly would never be up this early (boy could sleep anywhere) and not many people inhabited the room in the first place. Ophelia scanned the tables and spotted a familiar head of shaggy hair sitting at the Ravenclaw table. Ophelia smiled and headed towards the older boy. He didn't seem to be surrounded by too many people, and so she slipped onto the bench across from him.
"Good morning!" Her voice came calmly and she smiled at her newest friend. It had been a few days since the disastrous first Care of Magical Creatures Lesson where some snarky Slytherin had decided to run her mouth at the quiet boy. Her blood still boiled at the memory of the Slytherins comment, but her face stayed neutral as she began pulling food onto her plate. Her eyes met Elijah's and she smiled warmly.
"Are you going to Hogsmeade? You better eat a good breakfast. Most important meal of the day you know," she spoke, eying the Ravenclaws plate. Ophelia had decided that she liked Elijah. He was one of those people that deserved more than they had, and the type of person that Ophelia preferred to associate and surround herself with. Elijah was a rare type of person, and Ophelia considered him a friend. A friend who she kept a close eye on. Any signs of peer mistreatment would result in swift retaliation at the hands of the usually soft spoken and "observe only" Ophelia Retchford.
