Alcyone was sat in the back of the Malfoy limousine with her father, her head trained to the side to look out the tinted window. She watched muggle London whiz by as their driver maneuvered around the streets of the old city. People filled the sidewalks; some were walking hand-in-hand, others were obviously on a mission, kids were riding bicycles and others were walking dogs. It was a busy day, Alcyone knew, and she was sure that Diagon Alley looked similar today.
They were going to a muggle shopping centre today. Alcyone had managed, after some pouting and wide eyes, to squeeze a 'yes' out of her father. It wasn't their first time at the shopping centre (and it wouldn't be the last), but her father was never too keen on going to those kind of places. Alcyone, though she felt a bit out of the place in them, liked them. All sorts of stores under one room; it was a teenage girl's dream come true. (Well, any teenage girl that was like Alcyone, who loved to shop.) The driver turned the long vehicle into the parking lot of the mall and drove straight to the entrance. The blonde rubbed the palms of her hand on the jeans that clung to her thin legs. She glanced quickly at her father, afraid to see the look on his face.
Just then, the door opened and Alcyone swung her head around to see the driver standing there, offering her a hand. She reached up to take his hand and half-pushed herself out of the back of the limo, letting the driver pull her the rest of the way. When her hand was released, Alcyone flashed him a small smile as her thanks and stepped off to the side to wait for her father. She tugged at the bottom of her shirt, pulling it lower over her hips, and stared at the building before her. Or, rather, the people going in and out of the doors. Some cast sidelong glances her way, sizing her up and obviously sizing up the limo. A young girl, who had to be around Alcyone's age, walked by and the blonde could have sworn she heard her mutter "little rich bitch." Alcyone ignored the comment, however, and looked over at her father, who had stepped out of the limo. "Are you ready, Father?" she asked, beaming at him.

Lucius sat in the back of the limo with his youngest daughter. He said very little but absentmindedly toyed with the silver snake headed cane that rest black soft cotton suit with a cream colored shirt and black polished dress shoes. Just because he was slumming it by going to a muggle mall did not mean he was going to dress link the men he had seen there in the past.
He would not even be going if not for the numerous times his daughter had begged and pleaded. That and the fact that Lucius really did need to get out of the house more often. When the door to the vehicle opened, Lucius glanced at Alcyone for a moment catching her nervous glance. He offered a small smile. He had agreed to this had he not? He was not going to make it worse for everyone involved by being angry about it.
Once she had exited the limo, the driver hurried around to Lucius' side and opened his door as well. Lucius was not blind to the glances that were being sent their way. It was not every day that a car of this brilliance arrived here he was sure. It was a nice vehicle. A pure white stretch limo. Lucius liked it well enough.
"little rich bitch." Lucius heard for a young female muggles mouth and he frowned. That insolent little scum... "Are you ready, Father?" Alcyone asked and Lucius focused on the girl once more and then nodded. He started forward cane in hand and the driver hurried forward to open the mall door. Lucius thanked the man and then entered the mall.
Crowded as always. "Where would you like to start Alcyone?" Lucius asked in his soft tone now. "It sounded as if he were angry but his family knew Lucius. He only had two tones. This one and furious.

Alcyone followed her father towards the shopping centre entrance, dragging her eyes away from all of the commotion from the outside of the centre. It wasn't that she was fascinated by muggle things, but she liked crowds. She was one who observed her surroundings, and the people in it. She liked to know what was going on around her. Walking into the centre behind her father, Alcyone stepped to the side and took a look around the crowded building. It was bustling with activity, which wasn't unusual.
She heard her father ask a question, though she almost didn't hear him. She should have, though, because she was used to that tone. It was much better than the other one; when Lucius was furious, Alcyone tried to stay away from him. In fact, at her incessant begging this morning, she'd expected him to use his other tone with her. The young blonde shook her head, and shrugged.
"I'm not exactly sure," she admitted, glancing up at Lucius. "We could start walking, and I'll just... let you know when there's a shop I'd like to stop in." Alcyone didn't know many of the muggle stores; she did know, however, that one always had cute skirts she liked to try on (and usually bought.) But could she ever remember the name of it? Never. Deciding which direction she wanted to go, Alcyone headed off, pausing briefly for her father to follow her. "I think the shop I like is this way, but I'm not certain. Are you planning on stopping in any shop?" she added on, looking up at her father again.

"I'm not exactly sure," Alcyone told him and Lucius looked again at his daughter. "We could start walking, and I'll just... let you know when there's a shop I'd like to stop in." Lucius nodded with a sigh and then stepped into place with her as she started off. "I think the shop I like is this way, but I'm not certain. Are you planning on stopping in any shop?" She asked him now and Lucius considered the question.
He normally did not shop for anything Muggle. Though there had been a few things he had been interested in in the past. "Perhaps for your mother." He replied after a long moment. Lucius took in the numerous stores and the many people that walked in close proximity to he and his daughter. He let his gaze linger on this shops window display or that shop... Some of the jewelry caught his eye. Rare diamonds and other precious jewels. He would consider buying something later.

Alcyone had assumed, after not hearing a response coming from her father, that she was just lucky he'd been willing to take her to the muggle shopping centre. She didn't take it personally when her father ignored her or chose not to respond to something she'd said. After fifteen years, one grew accustomed to such things. So the young blonde concentrated on maneuvering her way through the crowd, huffing and shooting glares when people wouldn't move out of the way - even after she'd said please. It reinstated everything that she'd grown up learning and she thought about bursting through the rowdy group of teenagers that were ahead, just to show them that she was better than them.
The blonde looked up at her father, a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. "I think she'd like that," Alcyone replied. She hesitated. "I mean... if you're getting her jewelry, a diamond is still a diamond, is it not? No matter where it's purchased...." Muggle shop or wizard shop. Gems and jewels were all the same.
As they walked along, Alcyone slowed down each time there was a interesting-looking shop. And each time, she passed up the opportunity to go inside. To be honest, while she wanted to get some new clothes, she wanted new shoes more. Her collection was already quite extensive, but one could never have too many shoes. Something crept into Alcyone's mind as they walked along - something totally unrelated to shopping. She looked up at her father and opened her mouth, but then suddenly clammed it shut and looked straight ahead. She'd ask him what was on her mind another time.

"I think she'd like that," Alcyone told him and Lucius met her eyes. "I mean... if you're getting her jewelry, a diamond is still a diamond, is it not? No matter where it's purchased...." Lucius nodded slowly. "Indeed." He replied after a few moments. It was not long before Lucius began to get annoyed with the number of times the girl seemed to decide to enter a shop and then continued on. And if one more muggle bumped into him Lucius was going to curse the whole lot...
He was not blind to when Alcyone glance at him with a query in her eyes. She wanted to speak and he saw her mouth open but then she seemed think better of it. Lucius did not like that. He would prefer anything out in the open in family no matter pleasant or otherwise. "What is it, Alcyone?" Lucius asked now. He watched her as they walked.

Alcyone could feel the annoyance radiating off of her father. She chewed on her lower lip, telling herself that she had better chose a shop to go into and soon. She had hoped that her father hadn't noticed her open her mouth and snap it shut; but, of course he had seen it. He saw everything. (Alcyone wondered how long it would take him to catch on to her smoking or... 'dieting' habits, if he hadn't already.)
She stopped in front of a shoe shop and turned to look up at her father. She told herself to get it out in the open. "I... I," Alcyone stammered, not sure how to move forward. She knew what she wanted to ask, but forming the words to say it was proving to be more difficult than she had envisioned. Draco and Aphrodite would have already asked it by now, and here their sister was, stalling like a ninny. She could just lie, make up something completely ridiculously. Glancing out of the corner of her eye, Alcyone saw her only other option.
"I think I'll go in here," she finally said. She quickly turned and rushed into the shop, knowing that she ought to make it snappy because something told her that her father may end their trip sooner rather than later.
