The flat was an absolute mess… And Darcy was coming over very soon. Mathius had woken up that morning and the first thought that came to his mind was that Darcy was coming over for a date, and Mathius would cook for her. He was nervous from the moment he awoke.
Thinking that the half empty fridge filled with fruit and not much else needed a filling before he even tried to make dinner, Mathius went out and bought everything he thought he might need to make something at least remotely interesting. He decided to make a Thai curry, so he did so, putting it in the over to stay warm for dinner later on. After a little while longer everything was ready, except for him and his messy flat…
So Mathius set about cleaning every spec that he could off of the floor and walls, yet somehow it all managed to still look messy with the painting everywhere and the paint splotches he hadn’t had the heart to remove from their long time place on the floor. The flat couldn’t get much cleaner without him moving his paintings – which he wouldn’t do – and it was now time for him to make himself presentable, it was a date after all.
Combing his hair and dressing in something a little nicer than usual, a tie added to his clothing was all he did (other than to brush off some dust from his vest). Within moments he stood before his small mirror smiling, he was excited, even with the nerves bubbling in the pit of his stomach.
Darcy, the woman he had fallen hard for in just one meeting was coming over for a dinner between the two of them and nobody else. He wanted to make it special, interesting, maybe even romantic. Mathius’s flat didn’t actually have a table for more than one person so he set up the coffee table in front of the couch, hoping Darcy wouldn’t mind.
A few more minutes and he was ready as he was ever going to be. Nearly vibrating from the combination of excitement, happiness, and nervousness that he felt, he paced the hallway lined with paintings, trying to calm himself. Mathius didn’t want to look like a crazed man when she arrived.

Darcy was going over to Mathius' home today. His messy, painting-filled home. And she couldn't have been any happier about seeing it. She was so nervous, that she had to have tried on about three or four different outfits, not sure if he would expect her to dress up or not. He was a casual and relaxed guy- she loved that about him. But would his standards of her change if she didn't look just perfect enough in her eyes? Hmm. She babbled to herself about how it didn't support her right, how it was too tight, or how it wasn't the right color. She was going over to Mathius' house. His house. She needed to make herself look decent. She wanted him to be surprised, shocked, and amazed. She wasn't vain in the least bit- she just wanted to make an impression somewhere deep in him.
The childish young woman decided on a white, ruffle sleeved button up and a black pencil skirt that came to her knees. The front of her shirt was layered with lace and ruffles- it reminded her of the pirate era, almost. Or the Victorian era. She left the top two buttons undone, barely showing the start of her lower chest. Imagination is more fun. She grinned to herself, grabbed her black leather coat, and rushed out of her apartment leaving her purse and everything, just taking her key and slipping it into her pocket.
Her hair was abnormally straight today, a little hint of her natural baby curls popping up underneath. She pulled it over to one side swiftly, looking about as she neared his (hopefully right) home. He told her what number it was, so she checked in with the desk and made her way up.
She approached his door and lifted her knuckles to the door lightly, but she didn't knock yet. She could hear his footsteps echoing softly behind the wall. Darcy giggled lightly, catching her mouth with her sleeve, finally knocking. "I hope I have the right place!" She chirped. As she waited, she turned around to look about the floor. It was cozy, comfy. She smiled to herself and rubbed at the back of her neck nervously. Once she heard him open the door, she would turn around.
Taking him in, she caught her breath, coughing slightly. "Mathius!" She exclaimed, resisting the urge to wrap her arms around his neck and squeeze tightly. She would be calm tonight, unlike her usual off-the-wall self. Instead of attacking him, she bit her rosy-red stained lips and stepped into a tight hug, her arms wrapping around his waist slowly, leaning her head onto his chest for a moment. "You look so handsome." She breathed him in, a grin on her face.

Still pacing, thinking, and just overall waiting, Mathius was getting more and more nervous by the second. Until, moments later, he heard the tap-tap against his door. As soon as he heard it, his heart skipped a beat and he stumbled mid pace. She was at his door, already, suddenly he felt like he hadn't done so many things to prepare, but she was here and there was nothing he could do about it...
“She’s here.” He whispered quietly to himself and he shook out all of the nerves that he could before opening his door to see none other than the beautiful Darcy. She was looking absolutely amazing, beautiful and absolutely lovely. Her back was to him for but a moment before she turned and exclaimed his name.
“Darcy!!!” he cried back with a huge grin. It seemed all of his plans of being a gentleman and a good host went out the window at the sight of his guest. Her conservative hug happened before he could wrap his own arms around her, he had to settle with hugging her back – and he did, squeezing for a moment before stroking her hair. “I’m handsome? Look at you, beautiful.” He said softly, puffing some air into her face, already falling for her once again.
He stepped back, keeping his left arm around her shoulders, “Come on in Darcy,” he offered, waving his free hand at the doorway leading into the hallways so filled with his artwork.
He hoped with all of his heart that she would like his home, and that their last evening together hadn’t been a fluke. Not that he felt that way, his heart was already stolen, but his hopes soared that she would feel the same about him after only a few days.

“Darcy!!!” he cried back with a huge grin. Darcy's conservative hug happened before he could wrap his own arms around her, he had to settle with hugging her back – and he did, squeezing for a moment before stroking her hair. “I’m handsome? Look at you, beautiful.” He said softly, puffing some air into her face.
She blushed, missing that feeling since the last time she saw him. His hand ran through her straightened hair, her lungs collapsing along with her heart for a split second. She pulled back a bit, not letting her arms un-latch from his waist, looking up into his eyes. "No, no. You are handsome. You're... just perfect!" She smiled, her lips threatening to break if she pulled them any tighter into a grin. "Well, thank you. I just threw something on." She said, a joking tone in her voice. She had done far from just throw it on. She went through her whole wardrobe and made a mess on her bed with all the clothes she had laid out as options.
He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and exposed his place to her. She hooked her smaller fingers around his side and looked from his eyes to his open flat, a grin on her face. "It looks like you." She said quietly, taking in the colors and the scent forcefully. She wanted to remember it. She pulled him close to her and caught her breath from peering into his eyes. With a warm smile, she exhaled and nodded. "I love it." She grinned. "All the colors and paintings," she paused, "the attitude of your room looks just like you. I couldn't have pictured it any different."
Her mind raced to the thoughts form their last date, and she felt her cheeks heat up. Without thinking it through, she leaned up on her tiptoes and pecked him on the lips a couple of times, enjoying the tender feeling of his lips on hers. She ran a hand over his cheek opposite her, her other hand rubbing down his back. "I'm happy to be here. Thank you for inviting me over." She giggled.
Darcy stepped around, breaking away from him for a moment. She examined each painting carefully, her eyes widening in astonishment. Her fingers traced over every canvas from a distance, counting them up in her head. "You are amazing." She said breathlessly. "All of these are so beautiful. You make me wish I was talented." She winked back at him and found herself in the middle of the room now.
She tucked her hair behind her ear and slipped back next to his side, smiling up at him. "Now what?" She cooed softly, her right hand swinging to rest on his chest as she hugged up against him once again.

"No, no. You are handsome. You're... just perfect!" She smiled, her lips threatening to break if she pulled them any tighter into a grin. "Well, thank you. I just threw something on."
“Perfect?” Mathius cocked an eyebrow, “Now that I’m not so sure of. But I thank you all the same.” He grinned suddenly, “Well, then you have an incredibly good fashion sense to just ‘throw something on’ that looks so good on you.” She did look amazing, he had a small selection of things to change into that he thought appropriate, plus he was a guy, so it was just easier in general to get dressed for a date.
When Darcy said that his flat looked like him he immediately understood what she meant and smiled, so that was what she thought of him? Artsy, bright, and kind of messy… Interesting, he learned something new every day it seemed. He was grinning even brighter than before now and looked at his flat in a new light of a sudden, Darcy had only been there for a moment and already he felt even better than before.
Mathius’s mind was so deep in thought that Darcy’s lips upon his took him completely by surprise and for the first kiss he was still. For the ones following he responded appropriately, the thoughtful look in his eyes replaced by a loving, tender look.
“I’m already feeling rewarded for inviting you over, there is no need to thank me.” He whispered, pulling Darcy inside the hallway and closing his flat door tightly behind him.
Mathius stood watching as Darcy examined his paintings, smiling. She thought he was an amazing artist! The complement from anyone else would have warranted a smile, but from her it was like winning the lottery and he grinned even wider than before.
Laughing lightly he stepped over to her, wrapping his arms around her from behind and rocking in place, “Thank you.” He whispered, sincerity positively oozing from his pores.
Darcy asked what next and he shrugged, blushing slightly, “I made Thai vegetarian curry if that is alright? We have to eat on the couch…”

“Perfect?” Mathius cocked an eyebrow, “Now that I’m not so sure of. But I thank you all the same.”
Darcy arched her eyebrow like he did, mimicking his movements. "Yes, perfect." She said a little more confident now. "You don't have to be sure of it. I will be sure of it for you." She grinned again. "And no need to thank me. I'm just stating the truth."
“Well, then you have an incredibly good fashion sense to just ‘throw something on’ that looks so good on you.” Mathius was grinning.
The young woman chuckled lightly, squeezing him softly. "I lied. This took me like, thirty minutes to even put together. And the curls in my hair from last date-" she blushed hard at the word date, staring into his eyes, "those took a while to straighten out." She laughed, a small smile playing her lips. "But thank you, mister. I have to look nice for my Mathius!" She winked, straightening her sleeves out a bit and smoothing her top down over her.
Mathius seemed to be distracted with the first kiss she had planted on his lips, but he was back and aware with the next few. Darcy smiled against his lips, kissing his nose before slipping back onto her heels.
“I’m already feeling rewarded for inviting you over, there is no need to thank me.” He whispered, pulling Darcy inside the hallway and closing his flat door tightly behind him.
Laughing lightly he stepped over to her, wrapping his arms around her from behind and rocking in place, “Thank you.” He whispered, sincerity positively oozing from his pores.
The warm arms that locked around her stomach caught her by surprise. She gasped lightly, enclosing her arms around his own, grasping at his arms, holding him there against her. Her eyes closed as they rocked back and fourth, like a dance between them. She cradled her head back into his neck, leaning back into him, their bodies pressed together. She looked up to him, a radiant smile stretched out to him. She sighed and closed her eyes, listening to his breathing.
Darcy asked what next and he shrugged, blushing slightly, “I made Thai vegetarian curry if that is alright? We have to eat on the couch…”
Her eyes shot open, and she giggled, still held tight in his arms. "That sounds delightful!" She confessed, her fingers running along his arms, tracing his name and her name together. "And that is completely fine with me. I can't wait." She licked her lips playfully and kissed at his jaw, smiling, her cold breath rolling off his skin.

"You don't have to be sure of it. I will be sure of it for you."
Mathius shrugged, still grinning, “Alright then, I’ll take it from you for now…” he laughed suddenly, “The truth? Whatever you say Darcy dear.”
His eyes glistened merely as Darcy explained the length of time and the amount of effort that she had put into her outfit, suddenly he felt just that much more important. Somebody had dressed up to be with him. With him.
But thank you, mister. I have to look nice for my Mathius!"
Mathius laughed, smiling down at her tenderly, “I’m ‘My Mathius’ now am I? In that case, you might just have to be ‘My Darcy’.” He wasn’t going to let her get away with being the only one to own anyone in this relationship, two could play that game. “I dressed up in my only tie for you Darcy.” He admitted, grinning.
Darcy’s response to his surprise hug was to rock with him, leaning into his body, and he smiled softly as he looked down on her shining, golden head. For that moment there, nothing mattered more in the world then the two of them, together, in his flat. Although seeing as they still hadn’t entered the main part and stood swaying in the hallway, it wasn’t quite as romantic as it could have been.
"That sounds delightful!" She confessed, her fingers running along his arms, tracing his name and her name together. "And that is completely fine with me. I can't wait."
Grinning as Darcy showed her enthusiasm for his dinner, Mathius walked them awkwardly into his studio, still hugging. He felt her cold lips on his jaw and sighed, he had missed her so much in the days that he had been without her.
“I want to get dinner, but I can’t seem to let go of you at the moment,” he whispered, “Is that a problem?” His arms were still wrapped tight around her and he bent down, kissing her cheek with his warm lips, his own warm breath on her.

She grinned openly, her pearly white baring up to him. "I'm perfectly okay with being your Darcy. As long as I can call you My Mathius still." She chuckled, hugging into him once more. When he said that he had put on his only tie, she giggled. "Are you serious? That's so cute!" She said in a high pitched voice, her nose scrunching up. She would have to remember everything about this. Him wearing his tie, his apartment, his smile, his touch.
“I want to get dinner, but I can’t seem to let go of you at the moment,” he whispered, “Is that a problem?” His arms were still wrapped tight around her and he bent down, kissing her cheek with his warm lips, his own warm breath on her.
Darcy awkwardly walked with him into the main room, and her eyes took in everything. She smiled wide, tightening her grip on his arms. But his kiss did her in. She turned around, still in his hold, and pressed her head up against his chest, her breath catching, an audible gasp could be heard. "That's not a problem at all. I'd say dinner can wait for a few more minutes." She whispered into his chest, planting kisses up on his neck softly. She nuzzled against his warmth and sighed heavily. "Yeah, I could see myself sleeping on you tonight." She teased, smiling happily.
His chest and heartbeat were her favorite place to be. She had missed his arms so much, it was crazy. Actually, she had missed his smile, his voice, his laugh- she knew it all by heart now, and it was so hard to go without those things. So she made a promise to herself that she wouldn't go without them if she could help it.
With a reluctant sigh, she pulled back to look at him, a frown on her face. "You made dinner for us- I should let you serve it." She pouted, leaning up to peck his nose gently, then his lips a little longer than usual, using her hand to hold the back of his head.

"I'm perfectly okay with being your Darcy. As long as I can call you My Mathius still."
Mathius tapped a blunt fingernail against his chin, “Oh alright,” he said after a moment, “I can live with that arrangement.” He grinned suddenly when Darcy said he was ‘cute,’ “Really? Thank you, I think...” he replied, still smiling. He squeezed momentarily again as she hugged him more and sighed, if this was going to be the rest of their relationship, then he wanted it to last forever.
"That's not a problem at all. I'd say dinner can wait for a few more minutes."
Darcy’s head against his chest once more made Mathius feel like he was in just the right place, where he always wanted to be, hugging Darcy against him. “I agree, honestly, I’d be happy to not move for a little longer.” Her kisses gave him chills, but the type of chills you get when you listen to a particularly good song, or see something especially beautiful. Now, Mathius could add ‘being near Darcy’ to his list of things that gave him the good chills.
"Yeah, I could see myself sleeping on you tonight."
Starting slightly at that, Mathius blinked, then grinned even wider then he had all night. “I won’t complain, you’re a light girl, I wouldn’t need a blanket.” Once again his fingers combed through her soft hair and he planted little kisses on the top of her head, smelling the sent he had already come to think of as Darcy Perfume, and he loved it.
"You made dinner for us- I should let you serve it."
Pursing his lips slightly in a near pout Mathius sighed, “Only if you are hungry,” he responded with a sly wink. He didn’t ever want to let go of her, ever, but he knew that he would have to, if just so that they could have regular lives. But, he would never let her voice, image, or sent out of his mind again.

“Oh alright,” he said after a moment, “I can live with that arrangement.” He grinned suddenly when Darcy said he was ‘cute,’ “Really? Thank you, I think...” he replied, still smiling.
Darcy nodded vigorously and grinned up to him. "Then its settled." She confirmed, feeling complete. Her Mathius. "And you're very welcome." She teased, a serious look in her eyes. She had only known him a week or so, but he was turning out to be someone very important in her life.
“I agree, honestly, I’d be happy to not move for a little longer."
Darcy was almost purring now, wrapped up in his arms, and she didn't care if she never ate again. Well, she would feel awful, but she'd be in his hold, and that'd be perfectly okay with her. She sighed into his vest and stroked his tie, smiling. "I'd be happy not moving from here for the rest of my life." She muttered innocently, batting her eyelashes at him, making eye contact again. Every time she got to stare into his eyes, she melted a little.
Mathius blinked, then grinned even wider then he had all night. “I won’t complain, you’re a light girl, I wouldn’t need a blanket.” Once again his fingers combed through her soft hair and he planted little kisses on the top of her head.
She blushed and lifted onto her tiptoes, running her hand through his hair and brushing it behind his ears like she did on their first date. Darcy was almost eye level with him now, and she smiled, wrapping her arms now around his neck. "I'd hope you wouldn't complain, because you sure are comfortable." She moved her left hand along his neck, stroking lightly, slipping it down to his chest again, patting gently. Her right hand stroked at the back of his head, tangling her fingers in his hair and running them through.
Pursing his lips slightly in a near pout Mathius sighed, “Only if you are hungry,”
Darcy giggled and nodded. "I am getting kind of hungry. Don't worry! I want to play with your hair and have you explain to me about your paintings while we cuddle on the couch after dinner." She grinned, hoping he would be fine with that plan after all. "I mean, if you want to." She chuckled, unwrapping herself from him for a moment to take his right hand in her left one, squeezing it kind of tight and letting them fall to her side.
As he lead them into the kitchen, she waited for him to fix the food. Meanwhile, she turned around taking another more focused look on his paintings. She couldn't help but smile again, bringing her fingers to her mouth, nibbling on her nails lightly.
She took a few steps towards the couch and almost tripped on air, looking at all of the artwork too closely. She caught herself on the couch and sat down, crossing her knees over one another. Folding her hands together, she leaned over to look at Mathius from where she sat, giving him silly faces and cute eyebrow wiggles as he fixed their plates.
She loved teasing him.

"Then its settled. And you're very welcome."
Mathius nodded, the gesture almost final, “Settled it is.” He confirmed, lips twitching until the almost serious expression on his face melted into a grin once again. He felt all warm and fuzzy inside, which seemed almost cliché and most definitely corny, but it was true in every sense (and not just because of Darcy’s warm body against his).
"I'd be happy not moving from here for the rest of my life."
Mathius blushed yet again, the implications of Darcy’s words making him vaguely dizzy, and not just a bit happy. His lips brushed hers as he smiled, “I won’t contradict that... How can I when I feel the same.” He stood still, feeling that his movement might disrupt the moment as Darcy went on her toes and brushed his hair out of his face as she had done on their first date, with even more tender care in her eyes.
"I'd hope you wouldn't complain, because you sure are comfortable."
“As are you, Darcy lovely.” Mathius responded with yet another tender smile, this smile was very different from his usual happy, rather cheeky grin. This smile was more caring, loving, and sincere; not that his grins weren’t sincere; they just didn’t have quite as much emotion or care put into them.
Darcy’s hands on his chest and neck gave him chills, once more the good kind, but stronger this time (and more apparent). His own hands were still wrapped around her and he had no real motivation to move them, until Darcy herself moved that is.
"I am getting kind of hungry. Don't worry! I want to play with your hair and have you explain to me about your paintings while we cuddle on the couch after dinner." She grinned, hoping he would be fine with that plan after all. "I mean, if you want to."
Laughing again, Mathius grinned, “I’ll get you some curry then, wait just a moment. Plus, when we’re done, we can cuddle on the couch. I’m sure the light will be nearly gone by then and I can light the candles for a bit more of a... romantic feel. “And of course I want to, how can I not want to cuddle with you while you touch my hair? I get to relax with you, which is a bonus for me. I will not be complaining, not once. Until you have to leave of course.”
He stepped over to the oven and began to prepare the curry, with a bit of his favorite tea to go along with it. After a couple of minutes he was ready and brought over a tea with both kettle and curry upon it. Sitting down, he set the tray onto the coffee table and squeezed up right close to Darcy, where he belonged.

Darcy sighed happily, watching him prepare their dinner. She could see herself spending the rest of her life with him. It was sudden, but you can't fight fate. Her smile widened when he made his way to her with the food and scooted close to her. She welcomed him and wrapped her arms around his waist from the side, kissing his cheek playfully.
"Candles?" She asked brightly, a curious gleam in her eyes. "That sounds precious. When did you become such a romantic?" She giggled and hugged him tighter, releasing once he finally set the meals down.
"You know," she walked her fingers down his thigh to his knee, "I don't have to leave." Her voice was innocent, her eyes were playful, and her body language was serious. However he took it, it was all up to him. If it was up to her, she'd stay cuddled up to him all night, showering him with kisses.
"This smells delicious." Her eyes wandered the meal, licking her lips in approval.
She waited for Mathius to take the first bite, her smile widening at him. "I hope this wasn't too much of a hassle- making a vegetarian meal." Darcy frowned. Sometimes she felt like she stopped people from enjoying themselves when they went out because she didn't eat meat. She had been a veggie lover for over 13 years now, she was just not a meat person. Truthfully, nothing really important made her choose to be a vegetarian- she just wanted to be.
Darcy picked up her tea and took a light sip of it, gasping softy. She loved tea. It always made her happy. "I absolutely adore you." She said randomly, looking over the side of her shoulder at him, a grin on her face. "You paint, you read, you cook, you can make me laugh.." Darcy sighed heavily. "What can't you do?" Her hand went to his leg, squeezing lightly above his knee. She let her hand linger there for a moment, patting him slightly, before retreating to the plate and picking it up.
The young woman took a forkful of food and slipped it between her teeth, letting the flavor sit on her tongue. She closed her eyes, enjoying it, and chewed slowly. "Dear Merlin." She started with an almost moan, "This is amazing." She grinned, her powder blue eyes opening. "You'll have to teach me this recipe!"

"Candles?" She asked brightly, a curious gleam in her eyes. "That sounds precious. When did you become such a romantic?"
Mathius blushed yet again, it was turning out to be a colorful evening. “My dad used to put candles up for every occasion, mom loved it so I guess I figured that if she liked candles and thought them romantic, you might as well. You do right?” He was having a bit of difficulty, balancing the food in hand while being hugged tight by Darcy, he had a faint worry of dropping it before he was released and able to set the tray down where it would be safe.
"You know," she walked her fingers down his thigh to his knee, "I don't have to leave."
Smiling happily, looking almost as if his world were complete (which, of course, it was) Mathius shrugged, “I honestly will be honored to host you for a while longer, it gives me more time with you, less time to be taken away from us.” Mathius had a very similar idea compared to Darcy, but it ended with them asleep on the couch – not very romantic but sweet to say the least.
“It is delicious, my dad had all these recipes that he gave to me once he stopped cooking, now I make a lot of them just for fun. This recipe was actually extremely easy, not that many ingredients and instructions a ten year old child could follow with no problem at all.”
"I hope this wasn't too much of a hassle- making a vegetarian meal."
Mathius had just taken his first bite of curry and was chewing it when Darcy spoke, it was delicious, he had to admit, but it was no problem that it was vegetarian. He shook his head wildly for a moment before swallowing the food in his mouth and replying, “Hell no, it wasn’t a hassle at all! Actually, it was probably easier considering the fact that meat can be ruined so easily.” He sat there, holding his plate awkwardly, as Darcy sipped her tea. Everything she did was so... perfect (yes, even her tea drinking skills).
"I absolutely adore you." She said randomly, looking over the side of her shoulder at him, a grin on her face. "You paint, you read, you cook, you can make me laugh.." Darcy sighed heavily. "What can't you do?"
Mathius blinked, and blinked again, yes, he was everything that she had said, but he was some other things that weren’t so fun. He was stubborn, enough so that if he felt his morals were being compromised, he would argue until he considered himself the winner. His maturity level was lower than it should have been, but that was probably due to his losing his mother at a young age. As to what he couldn’t do, he wasn’t all that good at magic, thus making the fact that he is actually a wizard hard to catch. Mathius is sometimes unbearably honest, and he has been a target for bullying in the past due to his eccentric, artsy nature.
But that was beside the point, the fact of it was, he would take the compliment for what it was, something good, not something to be dismissed and argued away. That might just push Darcy away, and there was no way that he was ever going to do that on purpose; not ever.
"Dear Merlin." She started with an almost moan, "This is amazing." She grinned, her powder blue eyes opening. "You'll have to teach me this recipe!"
Mathius grinned, “Thank you! I’ll just copy the recipe down for you and then you can make it yourself, without me having to be picky about anything. I just did exactly what the paper told me to do.”
Leaning over, he placed the plate on the table again and sipped his tea. He was comfortable, the couch in the center of his studio was his favorite place to be, other than at his easel. Plus, he was on the couch with Darcy, eating curry. Perfect! He smiled and brushed his lips over Darcy’s cheekbone before leaning back looking rather proud of himself.

Mathius blushed yet again, it was turning out to be a colorful evening. “My dad used to put candles up for every occasion, mom loved it so I guess I figured that if she liked candles and thought them romantic, you might as well. You do right?”
Darcy nodded quickly, admiring his will to reflect on his parents. "Very romantic." She chirped to him, giggling softly. "Your mother sounds absolutely wonderful. I'm sure she was a huge part in you being a bright, charming, intelligent young man." Darcy laid her hand on his leg, tracing small doodles into his pants before blushing and pulling away slowly.
Mathius shrugged, “I honestly will be honored to host you for a while longer, it gives me more time with you, less time to be taken away from us.”
She beamed instantly, her eyes lighting up physically, and her body language shifted to relief and comfort. She sighed. "I would love that. Bay's not expecting me home any time soon." She chuckled, running her own hand through her hair a few times with both hands. She pulled it all to one side and leaned down to pick her food back up. "So I'm all yours tonight?" She posed it like a question, hoping he'd confirm it and let her stay longer.
On the topic of the meal again, she beamed for the thousandth time that night.
“It is delicious, my dad had all these recipes that he gave to me once he stopped cooking, now I make a lot of them just for fun. This recipe was actually extremely easy, not that many ingredients and instructions a ten year old child could follow with no problem at all.” Mathius had just taken his first bite of curry and was chewing it when Darcy spoke. He shook his head wildly for a moment before swallowing the food in his mouth and replying, “Hell no, it wasn’t a hassle at all! Actually, it was probably easier considering the fact that meat can be ruined so easily.”
She nodded slowly, a mouthful of delicious, food heaven in her mouth. She swallowed it and smiled to him. "I am glad it's actually easier for you. That takes a load off of my conscience." She chuckled and pulled another big bite into her mouth, her chipmunk cheeks sticking out for a moment as she looked at him, her nose scrunching up, afraid to laugh. She swallowed hard after a moment, and then it came out. She giggled lightly, calming down, then picking up her tea. Taking a few sips, she put her plate and drink down and rubbed her tummy. She was almost done, but she wouldn't rush the meal.
Mathius grinned, “Thank you! I’ll just copy the recipe down for you and then you can make it yourself, without me having to be picky about anything. I just did exactly what the paper told me to do.”
She nodded. "I can follow directions... somewhat." She winked, and picked back up the plate to take a couple bites. By then, she was pretty much done. Looking over to Mathius to see if he was done too, she picked up the cup of tea and spectated him. His movements, his facial features, his eyes as he focused on his meal and on Darcy a few times. She was an observer, putting everything to memory and using it to her advantage. Everything he did made her want to tackle him and shower him with kisses, he was just that adorable. But that would be for later.
Darcy returned her gaze to the paintings she had almost tripped because of and a thought popped in her head. Maybe an idea for their next date. "Next date, Mathius," she paused and looked at him, a childish and toothy grin on her face, "we should paint. Maybe not in here, but we could like go to the park, where ever I am with you is perfect." She chuckled. "I haven't painted in years. Finger painting was my specialty." She raised her palms to him, but alas there was no paint on them. She grinned and flipped them around, remembering her Dad scolding her for wiping paint on her new clothes when she would paint. Darcy was messy, to say the least. "Maybe you can teach me a few things." She teased, poking him in the side lightly like he would to her.

"Very romantic." She chirped to him, giggling softly. "Your mother sounds absolutely wonderful. I'm sure she was a huge part in you being a bright, charming, intelligent young man."
Mathius smiled, his mind flashing back to one of his favorite, and last, happy memories of his mother.
It was years ago, Mathius was only four and a half and his mother was in the kitchen, cooking. It was father’s day and she was baking a surprise cake. Father was out in his studio carving a special sculpture that he had been working on for weeks and he would be back in an hour. Wanting to help, Mathius had helped to bake it. Mother looked over her shoulder, leant down, and offered her arms to Mathius, who hugged her with an excited whisper of “Daddy’s going to be soooo happy.” He hugged her harder before pulling away and climbing onto a chair to look at the baking cake. Mother leaned in and whispered back, “He will I’m sure.” They hugged again, “I love you Mommy.” She smiled, “I love you too dearest.” Mathius grinned, “Nooo, I love you more.”
Mathius started, jerking himself out of his revere, “She was at that, an amazing woman... I have all of these great memories of her.” He was smiling now, eyes strangely bright from the memory he had. It had been nine months before her suicide.
"I would love that. Bay's not expecting me home any time soon." She chuckled, running her own hand through her hair a few times with both hands. She pulled it all to one side and leaned down to pick her food back up. "So I'm all yours tonight?"
He grinned, “Good, I wouldn’t want her to worry that I had kidnapped you.” Mathius laughed when she asked if she was his. “Absolutely, you are mine for forever and a day.” He replied, quoting her from their last date.
Grabbing a bite of his food, he realized that Darcy was nearly done and took a couple more bites before responding.
"I am glad it's actually easier for you. That takes a load off of my conscience."
“Good, I wouldn’t want to worry you with my cooking. Although you are at my home, so I can do whatever I want to make you happy. Even if I have to make vegetarian meals.” Mathius shrugged, grinning cheekily. He finished off his own plate of food just as Darcy finished hers, taking his own cup of tea and gulping it down once he was done.
"Next date, Mathius, we should paint. Maybe not in here, but we could like go to the park, where ever I am with you is perfect. I haven't painted in years. Finger painting was my specialty." She raised her palms to him, but alas there was no paint on them. "Maybe you can teach me a few things."
Mathius’s eyes brightened considerably at the thought of painting with Darcy in the park. “That sounds like a... like a great idea!!!” he said, stumbling over his words in his excitement. He smiled at the thought of a messy, paint covered Darcy, “Don’t you worry, I most definitely WILL be teaching you a few things, but only if you teach me how to properly finger paint. I’m used to the classic paint brush.” At her poke Mathius twitched a little before grinning again, “You have yet to find where I actually am ticklish.
