Delphi stood up with David, and watched in exasperation as the boy she had just tried to heal, broke the wound back open. She huffed in frustration.
"I followed you because I don't like to see people hurting. I was trying to help." Delphi didn't know what to do anymore. She had followed him, and she had healed his hand without question. She inwardly sagged in defeat.
"I care because that's just me. I get along with people. I don't open up, or trust easily, but I'm not rude or judgmental. And I can't turn away and not do the best I can to help a person. That's just Emma. I'm sorry if that irritates you." She was talking animatedly with her hands flailing about, but her voice remaining calm.
The Ravenclaw sighed and looked away slightly. "Rhye is very protective of me. He is quite literally like a brother. I've always been quirky, and so was teased when I was younger. Rhye has had to deal with his own bullying issues. We are very protective of each other. He doesn't trust easily." Her and Rhye were practically siblings. Nothing would ever come between their friendship.
"You have nothing to be jealous of." She said softly. "Rhye and I have been friends since the day we met on the train. It's not like I have a limit on the amount of friends I can have." Delphi thought back to what she had learned of the note from Rhye's reaction. "And another thing, Rhye doesn't own me. I'm not a possession, and no one has me 'all to theirselves.' I am not to be talked about like an object."
Delphi didn't know how to respond to the voices comment, so she spoke honestly.
"I can't help you with the voices. I truly don't even understand what all that means. I'm a Pure Blood, and I have never come across something like that before." She answered simply with a hint of apology. Delphi flinched as he fidgeted, not knowing what to do with his hands, or so it seemed.
Delphi laughed humorlessly in continued exasperation, shaking her head. "You just don't get it, do you? Rhye is not my boyfriend. My boyfriend is Caesar Harrington. Seventh year Slytherin. Rhye is my friend. And yes, he didn't handle the situation properly, but no one is perfect."
She watched David turn his back on her and walk away. Delphi was lost. She wanted to help, but what was she to do? He obviously didn't want to be friends, or be near her. And he obviously wanted her to just leave him alone. Her eyes blurred as she continued to grow upset.
'This is what happens when you open up and trust too easily, Emma. They trample all over your true personality. You created your facade for a reason. Now use it.' She thought to herself.
Delphi turned on her heals with a snap an jogged in the opposite direction and around a corner. She slowed down and continued to walk.
