"I'll catch up with you later." Delphi kissed Caesar goodbye as he walked out talking to Duncan, Ophelia's younger Slytherin brother- who, though despite what he said, Delphi knew Caesar liked. With a small grin Delphi made her way to Professor Rossi's desk. Her motions ran high and she wanted to cough awkwardly and wait until he was done doing whatever teacher stuff he had to do, but at the same time she wanted to fling her arms around his neck for another hug and blurt out all of her problems and let him help her. He continued to stay silent and now she knew he was doing this on purpose. She smiled widely and rolled her eyes.
"Oh for Merlins sake, you know I have a million and one things to tell you. You might as well stop playing with me." She didn't even know where to begin. Delphi had a whole list. David. Caesar. The DA. The Tournament. She visibly flinched and grimaced at the thought, She had told no one that she was terrified. Not even Caesar. But if Professor Rossi wasn't busy, she would pour her fears out into him as she often times had, and let him help her- again like he had on numerous occasion. Something occurred to her and she blushed.
"If you're busy I can come back later." She heaved her bag onto her shoulder. Delphi knew that the professor took his job very seriously. Maybe she could help- maybe if she could help him out, he wouldn't always be so busy. Then that way she could talk to him more. "Can I help you grade any papers?" Delphi set her stuff back down and she flashed him a hesitant smile.
"You have a lot of younger students this year, but then again, there are a lot more Muggle Born's. I imagine they won't return for their second year. But I'm sure you will have all those who do." She grinned- but then frowned. "I can't believe next year will be my last year." Her hair turned to a deep shade of blue to mark her sadness. She wrinkled her nose up and willed herself not to cry. At least not yet- not now. "I'm going to miss you so much." Delphi whispered. She felt so weird being so self conscious. She was usually hyper and bouncing around his classroom, and he always smiled at her, shaking his head. But he tolerated it. But today she felt so out of place. She suspected it was because of her last letter from her father. She was always left feeling this way after wards. Very useless, worthless and unwanted- which she knew wasn't true, but she couldn't shake the feeling so soon. She suspected that this time next week, she would be back to her hyperactive self. Professor Rossi better be prepared.

Gillian looked up at the younger child he knew as his own, not-really-adopted child. He grinned when she caught on to his purposeful silence and she began talking. "Oh for Merlins sake, you know I have a million and one things to tell you. You might as well stop playing with me." Gillian raised from his chair and leaned over a bit, a smug look on his face.
"Emma, dear," he stifled a chuckle, "you have a million and one things to tell me every time you come in here." He winked. "But I know that you're sincere, I cal tell from the look in your eyes. Now come over here and sit." He laughed, motioning with his head to the chair right beside his that she could sit down in. Gillian was going to sit back down, but she spoke up again, and his heart almost broke.
"If you're busy I can come back later." He shook his head slowly, walking from behind his desk to her. Gillian lifted her bag from her shoulder and put it on his desk. He smiled down to her and raised a hand to rest on her arm, shaking his head.
"There is no reason for you to come back later. Right now, you are in here, and you are going to tell me what is bothering you." Gillian's eyes lit up and he nodded slowly to her, squeezing her arm lightly in assurance.
"Can I help you grade any papers?" Gillian let out an exasperated sigh and he wrapped his arms around her, one hand resting on her head, his chin lowering to prop up on her too. He rubbed a soothing hand down her back slowly and shook his head.
"Don't talk about papers. Just hug me." He laughed. "You were always the one for hugs. You taught me how to really enjoy them." He chuckled, soothing a hand through her hair now like a father would. "Now tell me-" he pulled her back for a second, tilting her chin up, "what has got my darling so worked up and upset?"
"You have a lot of younger students this year, but then again, there are a lot more Muggle Born's. I imagine they won't return for their second year. But I'm sure you will have all those who do." She grinned- but then frowned. "I can't believe next year will be my last year." Gillian's mind slowed, counting the years she has been apart of his life. He had only been there for three years, she had been there for three more before him. And he smiled, bittersweetly, shaking his head.
"I can't believe you will be gone in another year." He hid a frown of his own knowing that in her case, it wouldn't help her. "You grow up too fast, my daughter." He beamed, pulling her to sit down in the chair beside his desk where she spent a few lessons a week helping him teach and helping him stay calm with obnoxious students.
But that wasn't all, and he knew it. With a small sigh, he rested his hands on her knees and noticed her hair was now a deep blue. He gasped. "Sometimes I forget that you are a meta." He winked, patting her knee gently. "But in any case- you still look beautiful." He sat up a little prouder, proud of the young lady before him. "I know you are going to go on past here and do great things." He nodded, a warm feeling spreading through his veins. He was getting... sad? No, he couldn't. She couldn't see him sad. "Just don't forget your favorite teacher." He chuckled softly, with a hint of sadness. Maybe she wouldn't catch it.

"There is no reason for you to come back later. Right now, you are in here, and you are going to tell me what is bothering you." Gillian wrapped his arms around her and Delphi sighed in contempt, drinking in the warmth and safety. It was a different sort then Caesar provided. It was, like a father? Delphi couldn't honestly say that, as she wasn't completely sure what that was like, but she had always imagined that this was what it was like. And so Delphi latched on tightly, rubbing her on his chest, as if she could burrow in for safety. His chin rested on her head and he rubbed her back like Caesar did when she was upset. She squeezed him tighter.
"I'm sorry I'm being such a baby. I just have- well I have a lot on my mind. And Caesar, well he worries, and I don't want to worry him about every little thing."
"Don't talk about papers. Just hug me." Gillian laughed and Delphi blushed, letting herself enjoy the moment completely.
"I can do that," She muttered with a small smile.
"You were always the one for hugs. You taught me how to really enjoy them." He chuckled, soothing a hand through her hair now like a father would. She gave him a squeeze. Delphi knew she was a physical person- but Hell, it was something she lacked for how long? And now she had Caesar and Gillian, and all her friends to make up for it. She owed the professor so much. He truly had helped her become the person she was now. He helped her blossom into the friendly and energetic lady she was now.
"Now tell me-" he pulled her back for a second, tilting her chin up, and she reluctantly let him go, "what has got my darling so worked up and upset?" Delphi sighed and tugged at the tips of her hair, pulling it around front to look at before finally looking up at him.
"Honestly, so much I don't even know where to begin. I can't even organize it all in my head." She confessed, her frustration apparent. "I don't even think I could give it an order of importance." She winced- that was a lie. The Tournament.
"I can't believe you will be gone in another year." Delphi gulped. She didn't want to think about it. Wasn't prepared for that talk. "You grow up too fast, my daughter." That was too much. She through her arms around him again and squeezed tight, as if it would stop the tears that threatened to escape.
"I don't want to go!" She shook her head frantically. "I would feel so alone. Not knowing exactly where you were when I needed you. I would miss you, Dad." She finished with a whisper. Gillian pulled her down into the chair beside him and she laid her hands in her lap to stop them from fidgeting.
"Sometimes I forget that you are a meta." He winked, patting her knee gently. Her eyes widened and she laughed.
"Sometimes I forget." Her head shook and her normal brown color returned, as she chose to fore go the bright pink.
"But in any case- you still look beautiful. I know you are going to go on past here and do great things." He nodded. Delphi felt a small twinge of pride twist at her heart and she blushed. She never had an adult figure, that mattered to her, give her praise, and she liked it. Gillian had always been that for her, and no matter how many times he built her up, like a father would a daughter, she would never be used to it.
"Thanks, that's what Caesar tells me." She chuckled, but still frowned. Leaving all this behind seemed impossible. Delphi would feel lost without her guide. She looked away and wiped at her eyes. "Just don't forget your favorite teacher." Gillian chuckled softly. Delphi frowned.
"I could never!" She defended. "And if the last day of Hogwarts is the last day I ever see you, then...well I don't know." Delphi wrapped her arms around her stomach to comfort herself. She sighed, not knowing where to begin with everything.
"Well, you know about Caesar. We are doing," her eyes darted around the room, avoiding Gillian, "better. Now." She sighed, "We got into a fight because the D.A started again and he doesn't want me to be apart of it because it's dangerous and well, you know, his family, and he made a scene and I got mad, and I was embarrassed and I said things I shouldn't have- but so did he!" She defended louder and quickly, now standing and pacing behind his desk as she spoke quickly. "But then- then he called me Delphi, and I was just so surprised! He has never! It killed me, to be honest! I don't even remember what all was said, but I remember saying that I would die for the war, and if he wasn't going to be by my side if that ever happened- then fine. It was cruel, and we both said things that shouldn't have been said." She slowed down as she sunk deeper and deeper into the memory. Her arms were wrapped around herself and she rubbed her cheek on her shoulder comfortingly. "We didn't speak to each other for a week. I cried myself to sleep," she confessed through a whisper, not liking how week she sounded, but feeling comfortable enough in Gillian's presence. "I didn't touch a raspberry. And then I found him late one night, when I couldn't take it anymore. I apologized and we talked out on the laws, and the night ended on a very good note." Her mind drifted back to that night and she blushed, thinking of a few certain moments. "We are doing good now." She smiled down as she drug her foot back and fourth across the stone floor.
Delphi sighed deeply before looking up at Gillian, a blatant fear in her eyes. "And then there is the Tournament..."

The girl in his arms was his, for the whole part of the word, his world. He was made sure to protect her and love her like his own daughter- and that he would until his last breath or until she no longer needed him. Gillian had become so attached to Delphi that at times like these, he felt like he should be at home with a nice family, snuggled up on the couch with his children and his wife, sharing a nice evening. But Gillian did not have a nice family. He only had Delphi and himself. Maybe in the future that would change.
His grip tightened on his so-called daughter and he closed his eyes, feeling her cheek rub against his chest. He smiled into her hair and kissed the top of her head tenderly before nuzzling in again.
"I'm sorry I'm being such a baby. I just have- well I have a lot on my mind. And Caesar, well he worries, and I don't want to worry him about every little thing."
Gillian smiled a bit again and shook his head slowly, squeezing her gently. "Don't you worry your pretty little head about that. I am supposed to be here for you. You're my baby girl." He said softly, running a hand down her back soothingly again. "Caesar loves you so much, he always talked to me after class about you. Even before you two were dating, actually." Gillian laughed. "That boy was heels over head for you." His eyes opened slowly and he took a light sigh, squeezing her again. "I'm always here to listen. I promise you that I will be, even after you leave here. I'm not going anywhere."
"Honestly, so much I don't even know where to begin. I can't even organize it all in my head." She confessed, her frustration apparent. "I don't even think I could give it an order of importance."
Gillian's brow raised. "Well then, just tell me everything. I am here all night." He smiled brightly, ruffling her hair a bit, folding his arms over his chest. He noticed her wince and he frowned. "I know something is bothering you the most. Tell me about it first." He encouraged, a small, warm, compassionate smiled on his face.
"I don't want to go!" She shook her head frantically. "I would feel so alone. Not knowing exactly where you were when I needed you. I would miss you, Dad."
Gillian's stomach dropped and he frowned, leaning forwards and wrapping his arms around her. He brought her into a tight hug, basically almost with her in his lap, and shook his head. "Darling," he cooed, almost a whisper, "I am not going anywhere. I'm always going to be around for you. Even after I get old and grey, living alone somewhere," he chuckled, "you will always be on my mind, in my heart. You never have to worry about me. I am an owl away. Okay?" He looked into her eyes and brushed through her hair, kissing the side of her head. "I'm going to miss seeing your precious face, too, dear."
"Thanks, that's what Caesar tells me." She chuckled, but still frowned. Gillian laughed softly and nodded.
"Well he is telling you the truth. You are really talented, young lady." He beamed, rubbing a hand down her shoulder comfortingly, a smile on his face. "You make me so proud- I couldn't have asked for a better student or a better daughter. I'm sure that I will be seeing you out there making a name for yourself. You and Caesar. That boy has some hidden talent, too. Who knows? Maybe he will come back to teach alongside me with Muggle Mythology. Or maybe that will be you?" He chuckled, "You two are so talented. Don't ever forget that."
"I could never!" She defended. "And if the last day of Hogwarts is the last day I ever see you, then...well I don't know."
Gillian shook his head quickly. "No ma'am, do not even think like that." He would never in a million years let that happen. "I am not losing my daughter after graduation. I'm sure I'll be at Caesar and Yours wedding, you know- all the important things in you guys' lives. You two are like my children that I never had. I couldn't go without seeing my babies grow up and mature." He smiled. "After Hogwarts, I am yours still, to talk to and write to. I have breaks, you know. You can come visit me anytime."
"Well, you know about Caesar. We are doing," her eyes darted around the room, avoiding Gillian, "better. Now."
Gillian furrowed his brow as she avoided eye contact. "That's good." He nodded, placing a hand on her leg. "I hope nothing is wrong with you two. Did something happen?"
She sighed, "We got into a fight because the D.A started again and he doesn't want me to be apart of it because it's dangerous and well, you know, his family, and he made a scene and I got mad, and I was embarrassed and I said things I shouldn't have- but so did he!" She defended louder and quickly, now standing and pacing behind his desk as she spoke quickly.
Gillian listened with a tinge of sadness. He couldn't believe that. With a small sigh, he frowned. "You two have differences. Big differences in your lives. He was raised by a set of Pureblood DarkLord supporting parents, from a long line of DarkLord supporting parents, all PureBloods and Slytherin. You were raised by a DarkLord supporting father, if I remember correctly?" He nodded slowly. "His life is a bit complicated, and so is yours. But you have found a way to detach yourself from your father. Caesar," he paused with a frown, "has not. Well, he has in a way because he is dating you. Someone who is not Slytherin and who is not full Veela." He nodded slowly. "Given time, he may completely detach from his family and you won't have to worry about him being anxious about you fighting against the DarkLord. But you have to be patient." He nodded slowly, "You have to be understanding with him. He's fragile, just like you are."
"But then- then he called me Delphi, and I was just so surprised! He has never! It killed me, to be honest! I don't even remember what all was said, but I remember saying that I would die for the war, and if he wasn't going to be by my side if that ever happened- then fine. It was cruel, and we both said things that shouldn't have been said."
Gillian gasped. "Emma, I am shocked at you." He shook his head. "You and I both know how much that young boy loves you. Not taking into consideration how much he is at risk for being in love with you- his family would murder him." From countless conversations, Caesar had spilled everything about his family to Gillian before. "You both are wrong to get mad, but, I would have thought you to be more careful. You never have been so... mean." He laughed in amazement. "That shocks me."
"We didn't speak to each other for a week. I cried myself to sleep," she confessed through a whisper, "I didn't touch a raspberry. And then I found him late one night, when I couldn't take it anymore. I apologized and we talked out on the laws, and the night ended on a very good note."
"I imagine so. You both were probably hurt." He nodded, bringing her into another hug, squeezing her against him. "I know you didn't mean it, and he didn't mean it, but those words could have done more than enough damage to you two. You guys need to learn to control it." He chuckled, "I know it hurts sometimes, and it's frustrating, but that is life. People only say things like that because they care about you. He was just worried. And you were doing what you thought was right for you- everything was just blown out of proportion." He nodded, patting her back gently. "I am glad that you two worked it out. That means a lot to your relationship. If you can handle a fight like that, you can handle anything."
"We are doing good now." She smiled down as she drug her foot back and fourth across the stone floor. Gillian chuckled and ruffled her hair again.
"Good. If you two weren't, my life would be awkward." He teased, a grin on his face. Gillian loved the both of them so much, it was incredible.
Delphi sighed deeply before looking up at Gillian, a blatant fear in her eyes. "And then there is the Tournament..." Gillian noticed her fear and her anxiousness and he shook his head.
"You are a part of that, I found out." He smiled. "I am proud of you, but, you seem worried. What's wrong?" He furrowed his brow. "Nerves setting in?"
