The morning of the task turned out to be perfect. Severus bypassed breakfast to make sure that everything was set up. There at the base of the Mountains was a long wooden table and five chairs. Hanging from a mountain cliff about 500 feet above him. At the end of the ropes were muggle harnesses. Severus had never used the items but without a wand, the champions would require them.
He sneered at the though of some of them trying to get into them. The ropes were far apart ensuring that the champions climb would be solo and that they would reach the peak at different locations. Severus knew that the tent and the water was already up there and there were fruit bushes. Also, it the champion actually worked together, they would be able to find the supply of food.
He had been nervous the night of the opening about these tasks seeing who the champions were but extra securities had now been taken. By the time he had finished going over everything, it was time for the task to start. He stood near the table and waited. Severus knew that after breakfast, the entire school would be here to watch the champions begin.

Harrison's eyes took in the still somewhat snowy field that began the base of the mountain ranges of Hogwarts. His smile faded, looking up. Harnesses hung above them, a tricky contraption indeed. If any of the students had a clue, he would be amazed. The Death Eater lowered his gaze to the wide, decorated table where Snape stood surveying the area.
"Is this truly fair, Severus?" Harrison's accent seemed to echo quietly due to their location. He smirked playfully, his hands crossing over his shoulder casually as he approached the Headmaster. He was quiet for a moment before nodding slowly. "So this is where it'll start and end for this task?" He looked around again, his eyes taking in all the surroundings carefully. In a few hours, the whole School would be here whooping and hollering to cheer their champion.
Harrison placed a hand on the table, his gaze lowering for a moment. Still looking down, he volunteered. "There is going to be someone staying overnight up there with them, right? I'll gladly do it. I've not had fun like that since, well, I was a Slytherin." He chuckled, now looking back to Snape appreciatively. The young boy remembered his days as a sneaky Slytherin. He used to sneak out all the time- maybe his skills could be put to the test once again.
Snape talked to him about what he was going to do, his instructions, and the precautions Harrison would take. "Got you covered. I'll make sure I do my best!" Harrison saluted, somewhat, and started on his way up the mountain. He had done this many times before- he knew numerous shortcuts and smoother paths.

Jenna Apperated to the base of a mountain walking over she just saw one man leave , Harrison she could tell buy his stance and walk and she rolled her eyes. Walking over she looked at Snape. "Morning , good choice " she said not about the task but about Harrison. She knew all precautions would be in place, snape, she knew left nothing to chance , ever. " so this is the first task hum, they better have some balls to get this done." she chuckled and nodded to him as she walked away and headed to the mountain behind Harrison.
"WAIT UP HARRISON!!" she called up a she finally caught up to him " so what do you think to all this, character building or what?" she asked her hands in the pockets of her coat as they moved she hoped he would remember her from the meeting they both had attended. Jenna could see the mountain looming ahead of them and chuckled. She had always wanted to know just what it was like to be a mountain climber, now she was getting her chance, maybe she'd even spend the night at the top with the others but she shook her head she would not.
Leaving Harrison to head up the mountain she headed to a table where all the other officials would be seated and took a seat and a drink. taking a piece of carrot she ate it as she waited for the others .

Damien arrived at the base of the mountain just as Jenna had arrived moments before him. He noticed Harrison head up the mountain already as Damien went over towards Snape. "Like the spot...excellent choice and it proves to be a great challenge for the champions," he replied to Snape about the mountain and the set-up. He looked up high at the mountain top; to what he could see from the base and saw that the four harnesses were all set-up as well. All the precautions were in place and ready for the task to begin.
He noticed Harrison head up already as he made his way to the table table where the officials would be seated and sat down, nodding a hello and smile in Jenna's direction. "Good morning. I believe this is going to be a great first task," Damien said to her as he took a drink and a piece of toast.

Severus looked up watching Harrison for a moment to make sure the man could manage the climb. His attention was caught however when the Ministry Official arrived. "Morning , good choice " The woman said to him and and Severus nodded in reply. " so this is the first task hum, they better have some balls to get this done." Severus looked at her now. "well it is a task after all." He replied. "They will either succeed or fail." He added point blankly.
He could see another professor making his way to the mountains and when the man was close enough, Severus gave a small smile. "Like the spot...excellent choice and it proves to be a great challenge for the champions, Damien told the Headmaster. "Yes," Severus said. "And its a good day for it."
There was only a light breeze and the surfaces were dry and a bit chilled. Winter was winding down but it would still be cold enough to be a environmental challenge. He waited a few more moments before moving behind the table himself and sitting beside Damien. Severus was not hungry. He hardly ever had more than tea and a scone in the morning. Today he just poured himself a mug of hot coffee and then sat back to wait. They were were still waiting for one official and the students of course.

Minerva dismissed all of the students from the great hall after breakfast, and then told the students to make their way outside to watch the first task. "Only the 4 champions may remain with me", she stated to the students before they left. Once the hall was cleared and the 4 champions and herself remained, she looked at them and smiled, "Follow me champions", she said to them as she guided them to the task.
When she approached the task site with the 4 champions, she couldn't help but notice the height these students were about to go. We're talking like 500 ft here. She noticed a large table was hung along with 5 chairs, and muggle harnesses that were to be used for the climb.
She quickly looked back at the students in somewhat of a bit of a fright, and then again looked back up at the task. She had to be brave and not worry so much, this is the way it goes with this tournament. She saw ahead of her a bit Prof. Snape by the head table haveing a cup of coffee. She turned back around to the students and moved her arm forward. "Alright champions...follow me" she told them again.
She took them right over to Snape, since of course he is the headmaster. "Please line up over here and we will then tell you what to do next", she told them. She walked over to Snape and grabbed a cup of coffee herself. As shewas doing so, she looked at Snape, and took a sip of her coffee.
"How much longer until this dreadful task starts Proffessor?", she asked him with a dreary look of concern on her face.

Delphi Emma woke up feeling energized, and at the same time sick to her stomach. She had given herself a pep talk the night before and had sent her father an owl, hoping she had finally done something that would give him a reason to interact with her more. To actually care, and be proud of her. She had struggled the previous night trying to decide the best course of action to take when it came to her sleep. Should she sleep as long as possible, so fully rested? Or wake up early in time to mentally prepare herself and become fully awake and alert? What would be most important? She eventually decided to wake up at a good time.
The next morning, Delphi woke up feeling extremely nervous. She could die! She thought back to Cedric Diggory. She remembered him. He had, on occasion, helped her with her schooling. A sweet boy indeed. She walked into the bathroom quietly, all others asleep, as the sun hadn't even peaked over the horizon yet, and she splashed cold water into her face. Looking up into the mirror she spoke, "You can do this Emma. This is your time. Your time to show Dad..." She trailed off. After a nice, long and refreshing shower, she exited the bathroom wrapped in a towel. One of her friends, Toribelle sat on her bed awaiting her.
"Emma, you are going to do great." She smiled at her friend. Delphi blushed at the encouragement, not being used to it at all. She shrugged her shoulders and Tori continued. "I mean it Emma! You are a brave, smart and so terribly clever girl! Sometimes I wonder why you weren't sorted in Slytherin." Tori chuckled and Delphi laughed. It had always been a joke between the girls in her years. Delphi Emma was clever and cunning enough to be in Slytherin. She had all of their traits, but she would never fit in with their belief systems. Sometimes they wondered if the Hat new that, and had seen what would soon be coming.
"Thank you Toribelle. You always know what to say." She smiled at her best friend and walked over to give her a hug, who cares if she was still wrapped up in a towel. Tori always knew what to say to make her feel better.
Tori smiled sincerely at Delphi. "I'm going to head down to the library until breakfast. I will see you at breakfast, all right? Hurry up now." She smiled and left to leave the room.
Delphi Emma smiled at the retreating figure before turning to get dressed. It didn't take her long, as she had chosen her outfit the night before. She entered the bathroom again, checking to see how she looked of course. She hadn't bothered with any makeup at all. Besides, it was a life or death sort of competition, with tasks designed to test you to your limits. It wasn't a beauty contest, and Delphi wasn't a materialistic girl. Yes, of course she liked to look pretty, but it wasn't her absolute priority. Her number one priority was surviving the first task. She thought back to the first task when she was a third year.
'Dragons.' She shuttered. That had surprised her greatly. She had been so thrilled and excited. Never even stopping to imagine how the Champions had felt. Even more so Harry Potter. He hadn't even volunteered. She had supported him from the beginning. Him and Cedric both. She had believed that he was innocent in his name being pulled. There were, of course, times when she had her doubts, but overall she had just had no reason not to believe him. She sighed at her reflection in the mirror. She certainly wasn't ugly without makeup. She just looked so different, so pale. She remembered going makeup free one day because she had been short on time, and everyone asked her if she was all right. Even Professor Dumbledor had thought her sick, offering to walk her to the Infirmary. She shook the memories from her head and reached for a hair band on the counter. Delphi pulled all her dark reddish hair up into a high bouncing ponytail, strands falling from it left and right.
She represented Ravenclaw with a silver undershirt, a blue comfortable skin-tight blue long-sleeve shirt, a very light weight blue zip-up jacket, and a black elegant fitted black trail coat. It was, well, a lot of layers, but she knew it would be cold. Especially once they reached the top of the mountain. And so with that, she wore thin, but warm stretchy workout pants, with a somewhat loose but flexible pair of jeans on over the workout pants. She wore hiking boots with warm furry leg warmers at her ankles. Delphi looked into the mirror and laughed.
"You look like a messy dork." She told herself with a smile. "But it doesn't matter. What does is your survival, and how well you accomplish your task." Delphi took a deep breath. "You have got this all under control Emma."
Delphi walked down to breakfast, she received a mixture of smiles, waves, glares, and pointing from the rest of the school, but she didn't care. She sat with Tori, who continued to encourage her, and she ate her breakfast. Even managing a nice conversation with one of her best friends, Rhye, who also spoke words of encouragement. Delphi had been more then pleased find that she had received a letter from her father. He hadn't actually said it, but he had hinted that he was proud of her, and that gave her all the encouragement she had needed. He wrote that though he wouldn't be able to make it to this task, he would for the others. Delphi continued eating in excitement.
At the end of breakfast, Professor McGongall dismissed the Hall to go to the waiting area where they would watch the task, telling the four champions to wait behind with her. With a final hug from Toribelle, she felt alone once more. She looked at the other champions. Of course in one way or another, she knew them all. She knew Neville better then she did the rest, and she knew he was smarter then most gave him credit for. Delilah, she knew, was very determined and a hard worker. She would ensure that things got done. She glanced over to Anthony. She knew for sure that not only was he clever, but he was resourceful. When they had to work together, that would come in handy.
The Professor instructed the group to follow her, and the five of them were soon outside and where the task was set up. Delphi's heart dropped into her stomach, not when she saw they height, but when she saw the long ropes hanging from the cliff sides.
"What in the bloody hell?" She muttered to herself. Delphi Emma, had no idea how to work such an object. She was a Pure Blood, and had never come across a contraption like this before. She barely heard the Professor tell them where to go, but her body seemed to numbly do as it was told. She looked up at the foreign object, trying to figure it out. She had worked out that the, whatever they were called...straps? Well the straps seemed to be the seat of trousers, minus the extra fabric. The ropes had more then one string, she looked up and tried to spot the end, but her vision just wasn't good enough. She smirked before morphing her eyes to those of an Owls.
'I see.' She thought to herself. It was a pulley system of sorts. 'Maybe I can figure this out.'
Delphi Emma Jaymesinn gave the device one last glance before turning to face Professor Snape. She wasn't as nervous now.

Neville was sitting in the great hall having what he was calling his final meal. Neville had low confidence in himself sometimes, but he was really nervous for today...the first task. He kept playing with his food with his fork until he heard the proffesor dismiss all of the students from the great hall and make their way to the task site. Neville gulped loudly, as he was about to stand up until Mcgonagle told the champions to stay behind with her.
"This is it", Neville said to himself. "This is the day of my death" again to himself. Neville was looked rather on the green side. He was frightend, he was hopeing that it wasn't going to be a horn-tailed dragon like Harry had to fight against in his first task. He made his way over to Mcgonagle and the rest of the champions. She then told them to follow her.
Neville stayed clear in the back of the line following McGonagle and the other champions. As they were getting closer Neville had looked up and he saw a huge table and chairs on the cliffside very high up. What scared Neville more was not the heights....but the contraptions that were dangling from the cliff. He had no idea what they were. "This is going to be the day I die" Neveille said quite loudly, but only meaning for himself to her it.
Neville was in shock. He took one look at them from up close and knew they were muggle made. It looked like crotchless pants. He thought he better get a move on so he slipped one leg in and then the other. He noticed than that it was a pully system of some kind. He looked back at McGonagle confused. "What the bloody hell are these?" he asked her. He looked over at Delphi, a girl he knew the best out of all the champions. "How in the hell are we going to do this without wands?" he asked her getting greener by the minuite.

Delilah woke up nervous. She dressed herself and then with words of encouragement and support from her house, she made her way down to the common room and then down into the castle itself. She was silent as always as she slowly made her way down to the great hall. The champions were allowed to wear their own clothes for the tasks and she had chosen to wear a pair of form fitting blue jeans and a grey t-shirt under a black zip up hoodie. Her dark hair was back in a ponytail.
Delilah paused outside the doors to the great hall and took a deep breath before entering. It seemed that all eyes were on her as she moved towards the Hufflepuff table. She sought out Adam and then gave him a nervous smile before sitting. She was not hungry in the least but knew that she should eat something. She forced a few pieces of toast. It seemed that breakfast time seemed to fly by and before she knew it the Deputy Headmistress was calling for them.
Delilah felt ill as the other students left and Delilah followed the other champions out and to the first task location. It was a crisp but nice day as they left the castle. Delilah did not speak to the others but instead hummed to herself trying to calm herself down. She looked up at the mountain and sighed deeply. She knew what the harness was but not how to use it. Delilah watched as one of the males was the first to try one of the contraptions. Watching him gave her an idea of how to try to get it on at least. Delilah looked to the headmaster and the other judges. She just wanted to get started so that she could finish.

Being nervous was something Antony doubted any of the other contestants could control, a fact he could discern without a shadow of a doubt just by looking at the interesting shade of green their faces had (metaphorically, of course) turned. The Gryffindor champion, Neville, appeared particularly neurotic, and the thought made Antony's emotions lightly touch on one called "exasperation." Really, it was like he was convinced the world was out to get him, and it would be if he didn't pull his head out of his fear-cloud and focus.
The Ravenclaw girl was showing her Gryffindor colours, as usual, and Antony didn't know why everyone around him seemed to be whispering that she should have been in Slytherin. She would have stuck out like a sore thumb, more of a reckless lion than a cunning snake, and while he wasn't saying she wasn't smart it seemed to him like the majority of the other students didn't understand what a Slytherin even was. Honestly, that just wouldn't do in the long run. Still, his attention was easily diverted from her - you've seen one, you've literally seen them all - to focus on the Hufflepuff, likely one of the other people he could force himself to like or even hold a tiny amount of respect for out of all the other champions.
She was pretty, yes, with large eyes rimmed in black and clothes that seemed both practical and lightweight, but it was the way she didn't try and make smalltalk, and her outwardly calm reaction to the strange muggle contraptions that made Antony give her a small nod of approval, dark eyes slowly returning to the challenge that had been presented before him, even as Neville demanded to know how on earth they were to do this. In Antony's opinion, it seemed obvious: you use brute strength to climb. But of course knowing how to do something and actually doing it were two sorrily different things.

Severus had looked up as he heard multiple footsteps approaching. He watched silently as the Champions were led towards the mountains by the Deputy Headmistress. "Please line up over here and we will then tell you what to do next" She had told the students and then Snape watched as she walked to him. He was listening to her as she spoke to him but watching Longbottom as the boy as usual did not follow instructions and began toying with the harnesses. Severus could bet on the fact that Nevile would be the first to become injured in these tasks.
"How much longer until this dreadful task starts Professor?" She asked him and Severus looked up at her now. "Right now." He told the woman.
"Champions." Severus said standing and moving to the front of the table. "Hanging from the mountain are muggle harnesses. To begin this task, you must put on the harnesses, climb your way to the cliff above you and each find your way on your own to the campsite prepared. You will need to give me your wands. This is to be done without magic. On the Campsite is shelter and there is supplies and food hidden near the site. You must overcome your differences and work together to survive the night or suffer. The first person back on the ground after sunrise will receive the most points and then downward from there." Her glanced at them all for a moment before saying "Begin."

Delphi watched as the other Champions took their spots. They were quite a ways away from each other, and she looked up, realizing that they would all soon disappear from each others sights. They would reach the top completely separated. Delphi closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She rolled her shoulders around soothingly and muttered to herself words of encouragement. Her heart beat rapidly, and she willed it to slow. "Your main goal is not to win, it is to survive...to survive quicker then the others." She smirked lightly, eyes closed and breathing out. She heard the Headmaster begin to speak. Only after her wand was handed over and Professor Snape tell them to begin did she dress herself in the harness and take an uneasy look above her.
Glancing at the cliff that stood in front of her, Delphi let her eyebrows knit together softly. Though she wasn't sure what the harness actually did, she recognized that she was obviously going to have to climb, so the harness must serve some purpose. With a shrug of the shoulders, she looked for a place to grab on, and with a few hesitant steps, she attached herself to the cliff. A smile spread across her face as she began her climb easily enough. "Caesar always said I had enough energy to climb the walls."
It wasn't until Delphi was halfway to the top that she began having a harder time. Finding a good grip on the cliff was becoming harder, as the niches were coming fewer and far between. Delphi paused for a minute, resting her forehead against the cliff and wiping her right hand down her pants. She had almost tripped earlier- no, she had tripped earlier, but had managed to catch herself quickly. Unfortunately, it ripped her hand and she was now bleeding lightly from her palm. She groaned with a wince from the pain, spitting on her hand and gently patting the back of her leg, which so far was the cleanest part of her clothes. An infection would be bad, and the cut wasn't too bad. After her quick break, she began to climb with more speed and effectiveness.
Finally Delphi made it to the cliffs edge. She heaved herself up over the mountain top and rolled onto her back, breathing heavily, the last little bit was physically the hardest, and she ripped the harness from her body. Casually, Delphi flung the harness back over the edge before wincing. Maybe she shouldn't have done that...perhaps it would get caught in the trees and not hit the ground. After a minutes break to catch her breath, the Ravenclaw up-righted herself. "How in the bloody Hell am I supposed to find the campsite?" She looked around. A breeze hit her and she shivered greatly. She had just been getting over a cold, and the freezing temperatures that would hit at night would not do her well.
Delphi closed her eyes, imagining where she had been standing at the bottom of the cliff. Surely, the campsite wouldn't be closest to one of the ends, that would tip it in someones favor. The middle center would also be a bit unfair, due to the two who climbed up in the middle. The only reasonable answer she could come up with, would be that the camp was centered of the group, but quite a distance in front of them. Delphi sighed and began to walk. She made her way through thickets and over fallen tree's.
She was nearing the camp, when the girl quite literally tripped. Delphi yelped and threw her hands out to catch herself. Her ankle hurt something fierce now, and she swore a bit loudly as she stood up. However, all negative feelings washed away as her eyes landed on a box. It was well disguised, and average sized. Had she come across one of the few boxes of supplies? With a grin, Delphi picked the box up and continued making her way to the campsite. She walked into the clearing and her eyebrows furrowed. She was the first one to arrive. She smiled calmly to herself. "Good start." She whispered, walking over to the tent. A quick glance inside confirmed her suspicion. She had made it to the top first.
The Ravenclaw sat down just outside the tent, pulling the box into her lap. She opened it slowly and frowned. There were only two bottles of water in this box. But her frown quickly disappeared when she noted a good sized hunting knife. "This certainly will come in handy." She held the knife up in front of her to get a closer look.

Neville put down the harness imediatly when he heard snape talking and giving instructions about the task. Neville walked over quickly and listend to that dreadful man speak in his evil, dark, and hypnotic voice that always gave Neville the chills. Neville started to feel sick as he wasn't good at anything..and now he has to climb a cliff. He was definatly feeling the urge to throw up.
After Snape was done speaking he heard Delphi cheer a chant to the group, as they were great words of widom and it brought a bit of confidence in Neville. He knew that he didn't want to die so he had no choice but to give it his all.
Neville than ran to the harness and pretended it was a pair of crotchless pants. He quickly slipped his long lanky legs in the openings, then he tighted himself in and looked at the top of the mountain and he started to climb. "I can't believe we can't use magic for this...it's sucide using muggle equipment for this" he said quite loudly. He started to slide a bit but he quickly gained himself and surprisingly was having no trouble at all.
He was climbing faster and a smile grew on his face "I'm not going to die today after all" he thought to himself as he was right behind Emma which was climbing very well. He reached to top and he was wheezing like crazy. "I'm never doing that again" he wheezed as he got up and ran toward some box's.
Delphi was quite further that him at this point and he grabbed the closest box to him, and took off with it and headed towards the camp site. The box was quite heavy and Neville was sweating so much he looked like a drowned rat that had seen a ghost, and he didn't look good at all. He made it to the tent and saw Emma sitting with her box infront of her and exploring it a little.
"hugh..hugh..anything good in there?" he asked her with barley any breath. He sat down next to her with his box between his knees with excitement to see what was hidden inside. "I can't believe I'm not dead Emma" he said to her still huffing and puffing "Should we open my box next?" he asked her.
Neville opened the box and inside was a big bag of rice, a pot, and a jug of water."Well..here is our food...and we can use your knife to open the bag Emma" he said to her with a smile. Neville then started taking everything out of his box and set it on the ground, while he turned the box upside down and made a table with it. He started putting everthing back ontop of the box and turned at Emma and smiled "There...this should do the trick". Neville still couldn't belive he was alive and he was quite proud of himself. He sat back and rested for a bit awaiting the other champions to arrive.

Delilah listened to the Headmaster as he spoke and then once he was finished, she moved towards one of he free harnesses. She had watched the way the male student had put the halter on and then did the same to herself. Within minutes, she was heading up the mountain. The climb was not easy but she was doing it. Delilah was strong. She had grown up in the middle of the country and had experience climbing and lifting heavy items.
She scaled the mountain rather quickly and before long was pulling herself up and over the edge of the cliff. She crouched there on the ground for a moment and then pushed off the harness and left it at the edge. Delilah knew that she would be needing it or else would in the morning. She looked around for a moment after standing. The cliff was covered in rather short trees and bushes. Delilah could not see anyone else or any boxes.
The Hufflepuff tried to decide where the camp site would be and then started in that direction. Delilah was not lucky to have found any boxes before she had reached the camp. She stepped into the clearing and smiled at the two champions who had already arrived. They were still missing one it seemed. Her eyes fell on the tent which was rolled in a ball. She only noticed what it was because of the canvas. Her mother had been very interested in Muggle camping.
Delilah moved towards the ball now. She took the bundle and moved at little further away from the others before spreading it out on the ground. Delilah could do this. She was sure of it. It took a bit longer than it should have but soon enough, the tent was standing. It was small though. It would fit four people, yes, but tightly.
Delilah rubbed her hands on her pants and then turned to the others and looked to see if the four champion had arrived yet.
