Pinching the bridge of his nose, Seff leaned against the wall. "She's telling the truth," he told him, immediately regretting opening his mouth. The man might not have any power to arrest him or anything, but that didn't mean he wouldn't ask questions. Questions that, frankly, Seff could have cared less about having to answer.
As though thought what he said hadn't dug a hole for himself, he pushed himself from the wall and slowly walked over so he was standing between Michelle and the--what the hell even was he? A member of the French Ministry or whatever they had over there, or an auror, or something? Seff realized with a grimace of disdain that he hadn't revealed anything about himself.
Through his words, at least. Seff knew just by listening to him speak, the way he held himself, and the passion that flared in his eyes exactly the kind of person he was and what exactly he was capable of. Not that it mattered much to him.
He turned his back to Michelle so she was behind him, facing the newcomer and straightening himself to his full height. He kept Lorcan visible from the corner of his eye as well--he didn't trust him, even though currently he didn't pose himself as much of a threat. Seff wasn't one to take chances.
"Lorcan's right," he growled, the words feeling particularly bitter on his tongue, crossing his arms and looking down on the Frenchman. He hated having to agree with the arrogant vampire, but he didn't have much of a choice. "It was self-defense. I trust that you have no more business here." His words curdled with the hint of a threat, and he grimaced with distaste for the whole situation.
