He let his fingers dangle in the water for a moment. It wasn't too bad this morning, cold but not freezing. The sun had been up for two or three hours, and so had Rhye.
After he had dropped Ophelia off in her dorm, he passed out on the couch but didn't get much sleep. And when he woke in the morning, Rhye was already ready for his date with Ophelia that he pulled on a sweater, loose fitting sweats over his swimming trunks, and headed out. He had seemingly been the only one to visit the pool since it opened back up for the season. Nobody was as crazy as him to swim when it was that cold outside, oh well- more pool for Rhye.
Rhye folded his towel up, placed his book between the folds, and set it on a chair by the poolside, taking off his sneakers, the ground cold under his toes. He shivered a bit but he liked it. After all, he loved the cold weather and swimming. He was eager to get in the water, but he wasn't sure if Ophelia was going to get there soon or not.
He moved his arms back and fourth, stretching out, his muscles flexing. He'd better just wait for her. He wouldn't want her upset if he was already soaking when she got there. Rhye walked back over to his chair and sat back in it, resting a bit with the book open, his nose stuffed in it. He could always get a few chapters down before their date started.

It was early. Not really early, but the day hadn't been active for long. Ophelia stared self-conciously into the mirror. She was wearing a bathing suit that flowed to her knees like a skirt. She felt less revealing that way. It's not that she was concerned about her body, she was actually very confident in that aspect, she just liked to think herself modest. She sighed, 'You'll be fine.'
Ophelia slipped on a knee length jacket and headed out of the common room with her drawing pad. She had no idea how this date would go and she was actually very nervous. She was not a good swimmer, and being in the water made her nervous and a tad panicky. She knew that Rhye loved to swim, which is why she had decided to give it another try. She wondered if he would want her to swim with him, or if he would be happy with her sitting beside the pool. She gathered the latter would be most likely. At some point on this date, she would be fully submerged, rather she liked it or not.
She wasn't complaining of course. Ophelia loved that Rhye got her to do things she previously wouldn't want to, or had been nervous about. He put confidence in her like no other, and she loved that about him.
Ophelia received a few confused looks as she passed students in the hallways, but she kept her head down and soon enough she had made it to the pool. She entered cautiously and she cracked a grin when she saw Rhye in his swimming attire, by the pool reading a book. She leaned against the wall just inside the doorway.
"Rhye Andrews Alexendre in his natural habitat." She teased, smiling easily. "By the pool, ready to swim, and with a book out."

The book wasn't getting too interesting. He sighed, let out a yawn, and was just about to put the book up when Ophelia's pretty voice chirped behind him.
"Rhye Andrews Alexendre in his natural habitat." She teased,"By the pool, ready to swim, and with a book out."
Rhye stayed facing the pool, a giant smile on his face. He hopped off his chair and turned around to face her, crossing his arms over his chest. "I'm not ready to swim yet." He corrected, waving a finger at her. He issued her a 'one moment' look, ran to the boy's room, and when he came back, he was in his black swimming trunks and nothing else.
He passed by her on his way to the chair, putting his things down and then ran behind her, helping her out of her jacket when she was ready. He pulled the shoulders off first, meeting his lips to the exposed parts on her neck and shoulder as he pulled it off of her, then threw it on his stuff lazily. He patted his sides for a second, wondering what she thought of him and how he wanted to swim so bad.
He looked her over briefly, then went in for a huge hug, a permanent smile on his face as he pulled her out at arms length again. "I could eat you up." He joked, his nose scrunching up cutely. "And, how did you like those flowers last night?" He boasted, light green eyes never leaving hers. "Oh, and I don't even care that I'm totally topless in front of you right now." He chuckled, looking down at his own shirtless self, then pretending to cover himself up with his arms. "... Just kidding. I so care." He smiled, teasing her.

Ophelia closed her eyes, allowing herself to fully enjoy the moment when Rhye helped her shrug out of her jacket, kissing her shoulders. She could definitely get used to this. She hummed to herself softly. Rhye awkwardly patted his sides and she felt his upper arm.
"I see swimming has done you a lot of good." She winked and pecked him on the lips. She grinned as Rhye hugged her, pulling her back and saying, "I could eat you up."
"And, how did you like those flowers last night? Oh, and I don't even care that I'm totally topless in front of you right now."
Ophelia smiled slyly. "Good, because I know I don't care." She rubbed her hands lightly against his chest, stepping forward and kissing each corner of his mouth, teasing him by not kissing him full on the lips.
"... Just kidding. I so care." He smiled, teasing her.
Ophelia laughed. "I was the one standing at the mirror for at least thirty minutes."

"I see swimming has done you a lot of good."
Rhye gasped a bit, chuckling. "Are you making a move on me, Miss Ophelia?" He quizzed, winking at her. "Because that is attractive." Rhye's hands formed around her lower back as he stepped into her, looking down. He pecked her on the lips lightly.
"I was the one standing at the mirror for at least thirty minutes."
"Were you admiring how beautiful you looked?" He beamed, proud to call her his. All joking aside, she looked beautiful. The way her hair framed her face, her eyes shining when he looked into them- she was breathtaking, mesmerizing. She was his.
He stood there holding her in his arms, just smiling at her, until he sighed. "So... Would you like to join me?" His lips were tainted with a hit of devilishness as he nodded a brief second then took off to her side, leaped into the water, and disappeared for a couple of moments. The outline his body was like that of a Shark, he moved fast and with intent.
When he came back up, he whipped his hair back around, somehow it still managed to sit right on his head even when damp. Rhye paddled back to the steps and looked up at her, resting his arms as weights on the pool side. A huge, childish grin was on his face as he stared up at her. "Gosh, you're still so pretty." He sighed out, resting his chin on his hands happily.

"Are you making a move on me, Miss Ophelia?"
Ophelia laughed a teasingly evil laugh. "Oh trust me Mr Alexendre, is I were making a move on you, you would no, and you would not be able to resist." She winked at him.
"Were you admiring how beautiful you looked?" Rhye said referring to her mirror vigil. Instead of blushing, Ophelia said, "No. I was wondering which one of my secret admirers left me with a beautiful set of flowers. If I ever find out, I may just have to pledge my un-endowing love to them." She put a hand over her heart and blinked rapidly and more then what was considered normal.
"So... Would you like to join me?" Ophelia watched a devilish smile dance across Rhye's face before he nodded and took off into the pool. The water splashed in anger, half soaking Ophelia. The outline his body was like that of a Shark, he moved fast and with intent. Ophelia watched as he came and crossed his arms over the edge of the pool. "Gosh, you're still so pretty."
Ophelia bit her lip, not in a cute and flirtatious way, but in a very nervous and apprehensive way. "I'm not a good swimmer." She confessed. "It makes me nervous." She neared closer to the water, staring down into the deep end terrified.
Ophelia looked from the waters depth and into the deepest depths of Rhye's eyes. "But I trust you." She whispered nervously, but sat on the edge of the pool, took a deep breath, and slipped into the surprisingly warm water.
Her head dropped below the surface.

"I'm not a good swimmer." She confessed. "It makes me nervous."
Rhye chuckled and shook his shaggy hair about, stretching his arms out to her. "I'll hold you, my love!" He exclaimed dramatically, not caring who might have heard. But as she slipped down into the water and whispered "But I trust you.", Rhye couldn't help but get red in the face. She trusted him. With how much of her, he didn't know, but this Muggle held her trust.
As her head slipped under the water, he got nervous and pulled down under the surface too. He opened his eyes to see her floating there, her hair circling her like a misty haze. He was deeply in love with everything about her. He couldn't help but smile inside, his cheeks puffing as he held his breath. Once she got ready to come back up, Rhye would wrap his arms around her legs and hold her in his arms, carrying her while she floated on top of the water.
Once they were both up again, he looked down at her and loosely held her there, almost floating her peacefully on top of the surface. He held onto her tight, both so that he could feel her against him, but also to show her that he was going to be there to help her. He let her feet dangle in the water, his eyes locked on hers. "You okay?" He whispered, a concerned gleam in his eyes.

As soon as her head slipped under the water, Ophelia panicked. But something odd happened that she still can't quite understand. She watched with oped eyes as Rhye dropped below the surface and made eye contact with her. She was no longer nervous and her struggling ceased. A calming sense of security washed over her when she saw Rhye, and she managed to relax in the water. She blinked at him followed by a smile. Her lungs began to show signs of annoyance and so she looked up towards the surface and began menuvering her arms to push her towards the fresh air.
She came up with a large gasp for air. Rhye supported her and let her float through the water peacefully. Rhye held her securely, and despite the feeling of safety, she couldn't stop her body from shaking nervously, and she desperately hoped it would stop.
"You okay?" He whispered, a concerned gleam in his eyes.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist securely and kissed him on the cheek and brightly said, "I couldn't be anything but okay when you are around." She smiled, telling herself to stop the nervous shaking.

As soon as he thought everything was okay, she began to shake. He panicked for a moment before wrapping her tight against him, rocking her from side to side, humming their song. "It's okay.. it's okay." He placed a wet hand on the back of her head and kissed her forehead, leaning his forehead on hers.
He looked into her eyes and smiled childishly, chuckling. "You really do keep me on my toes." Rhye shook his head. "Way to give me a panic attack. Even if you don't know it, you were shaking." He frowned, kissing her nose.
"I couldn't be anything but okay when you are around."
He shook his head once again, chuckling. "You're so lucky I love you." He squinted his eyes at her, pretending to be mad or something, but a permanent smile on his lips. His hands slowly let her lower half down so she could touch the bottom of the pool with her feet. He let go of her and lead her into shallower waters, so she would be more comfortable.
"I didn't like that." He said, referring to the shaking. "You scared me, I thought something was happening to you." He looked down. "If you don't want to be in here, you can stay on the edge. I'll go get you a towel.." He wrapped his arms around her neck giving her a hug, laying his chin on her head calmly. "I don't want this to scare you."

"You're so lucky I love you."
Ophelia's feet touched the ground and she breathed a sigh of relief before turning towards him with a feigned glare. "I think it is you, sir, who are lucky that I, the most wonderful Half-Blood in all the kingdom, love you." She couldn't pretend for long and so she stuck her tongue out at him playfully.
"I don't want this to scare you."
Ophelia wanted to die. Here he was, being so sweet, wanting to do something he loved with her, and she couldn't get over her nerves? 'How selfish.' She was fifteen. Fifteen. And she was scared of the deep end? How childish. She pushed away from Rhye, shaking her head.
"No. I'm fine. It's just water, right? People float." She shrugged her shoulders, attempting a nonchalant attitude. "I'm a person, so I'll float too." She smiled at him a bit more confidently. But only a bit.

"I think it is you, sir, who are lucky that I, the most wonderful Half-Blood in all the kingdom, love you."
He stuck his tongue back out at her, like she had done, and made a farting noise. He splashed water at her tummy, flashing her a cute smile after he did it. But then his eyes became worried and confused.
She pushed away from Rhye, shaking her head. He scowled, his eyebrows furrowing. He was confused. Did she not want him to help her? He looked down, listening to her explain.
"No. I'm fine. It's just water, right? People float."
He rolled his eyes and chuckled. "It's more complex than just floating." Rhye looked down again, playing with his strings on his trunks. He didn't know what to say to her, so he just kind of stood there. He felt a little reserved now. She wanted to do it on her own, with no help, so...
"I'm a person, so I'll float too."
Rhye shrugged and stepped back from her. "Have at it, Ophelia." He smirked, crossing his arms.

Rhye shrugged and stepped back from her. "Have at it, Ophelia." She watched as he smirked and crossed his arms. She narrowed her eyes just a tad. Well now she had to try. Her thirst for approval and proving people wrong when they doubted her tool control over her fear. It was a flaw of hers. She would put herself in danger to prove something if someone said she couldn't. Without looking at Rhye she walked past him and at the water and recalled her own words.
"I'm a person, so I'll float too." She repeated it in her head over and over again until finally, she took a calming breath and pushed up from where the pool floor steeped downward. She came up out of the water only a little bit and gracefully turned onto her back, gliding away from Rhye on her back. She had her eyes closed tight, and when she realized that she wasn't drowning, silly her, she opened her eyes and looked out of the top skylight in the ceiling and smiled. She floated a bit longer in the silence before her confidence built and with and audible breath in she used her arms to heave her backwards into the water.
Ophelia was once a good swimmer. But after an incident in an American river, she began to fear the possibility of drowning. She became nervous and panicked every time she got in the water. Until today that was. All because of Rhye. She remembered thinking about the volume to which it spoke that he had actually gotten her in the same room with a pool. And how much trust he had built up with her. And now, she was swimming again. It was then she realized that with Rhye, she could accomplish anything. She tried not to panic as she purposefully spiraled downward towards the deep. She used to do this all the time.
'Nothing will happen to you. Rhye will always protect you.' She thought to herself with a smile. 'If he's not too shocked at what she had done that is...' She smirked. Ophelia had never told him about why she had disliked water, and that she had once actually enjoyed swimming. Not as much as she loved flying though. That's what they needed to do. Ophelia needed to take him flying. She had never been a particularly good swimmer, but it had relaxed her and she understood the bare basics.

His hands reached out to her waist as she walked past him, loving the way her smooth skin felt against his palms. He leaned against the poolside, spectating with suspicion as she took off on her back. She was a natural. That was the plan all along. Bring her to something she was uncomfortable doing and encouraging her to do it again. He laughed inwardly, resting his elbows back, enjoying the view.
But then she kicked and was underwater. He stood up, alert, not sure if he should go check on her or stay there. She trusts you. If something happens, it'll be just like when your friends died. Don't let her get hurt. He began to dive, frantic, but stopped in mid-step. She wants to do this on her own. You have to let her do it. Rhye was conflicted yet again. He didn't know how to respond, and his hands went to his head, shaking it from side to side nervously. He tugged at his hair, his nervous behavior, and winced. Somehow, he couldn't escape his past to save his life.
He decided that he'd go under to see if she was okay. So, he did. Rhye took a glide on the surface then shoved his chest down, taking a gasp of breath naturally as he submerged. He propelled himself forwards with his hands, expertly maneuvering so he was faster than the currents. He found her in the deep end, spiraling downwards.
He bolted towards her, and as she spiraled down, he seemed to circle her. She looked too elegant to be true. He smiled to himself. He never knew she was that good at swimming. His mermaid. He smiled, and as she was about to come up, he grabbed her waist and swam up with her, hugging her from behind as they floated in the water. He planted a kiss on her earlobes, hungrily nibbling at her neck as they floated together.
"Why didn't you tell me you were half mermaid?" He gasped, gaining his breaths back.

If she were being honest with herself, she had panicked slightly as she was coming up, because, for a moment, she had lost all sense of direction and feared she was going the wrong way. But it happened again, exactly when she needed him, Rhye had appeared and had smoothly guided her upward to the surface. She gasped for air and smiled when she felt Rhye kiss her from behind.
"Why didn't you tell me you were half mermaid?" He gasped, gaining his breaths back.
Ophelia laughed at his utterly silly words. "Mermaids don't panic like I do. I was about to start freaking out before you grabbed onto me." Her breathing increased at the thought of how freaked out she would have been. "I wasn't sure which way was up for a minute there." She whispered shaking her head. But then she turned around towards him with a smile. "I guess you were right, swimming is definitely more then just floating or moving around." She kissed him on the lips and pulled back with a smirk.
"Besides, I definitely consider myself a siren."

"Mermaids don't panic like I do. I was about to start freaking out before you grabbed onto me."
Rhye beamed all over, proud of his decision to go look for her. His hands tightened around her as he floated the both of them back to the shallow end so he wouldn't have to keep pushing up and floating. Once he got there, he feverishly kissed his lady, holding the back of her neck like in one of those romantic muggle movies.
"Besides, I definitely consider myself a siren."
That made sense. "You called to me. I'm not even kidding. When you were under, I was having a panic attack up here." She would think he was joking, but the terror fading from his eyes still would prove her wrong. He tried to look happier. "You're my little siren." He grinned, pecking her on the lips quickly, running his hand through her hair and smoothing it away from her face.
