Severus had taken many cares and worked out many scenarios when working out all the details for this. He had wanted to make sure that it would be safe enough. Severus had enlisted an number of staff to help out and had prepared them. The students all knew about the tournament and for the most part were very excited. Severus may come across as a mean person. But really, he knew that there was a great deal of stress with the movement of Voldemort and he wanted the staff and students to be able to have a bit of fun in this time of trouble.
He had set up the Goblet of Fire in the entrance area with a number of age restricting spells. He did not want a Harry Potter event happening all over again. The Goblet of fire had been there for a number of days now and tonight was the night to pick the champions.
The Goblet had been brought into the Great Hall now and it was set in front of the Headmaster. He gazed into the flames but did not move towards it. The opening feast was first. Severus sat back in his chair up at the head table with the other staff and waited for all of the students to arrive. He did not expect it to take very long. The house elves were very busy downstairs making food and as he watched dish after dish of heavenly smelling food appeared on the long tables.

Proffessor McGonaglle took her normal seat at the head table ,and was awaiting for the students to arive. As she looked at the flames of the goblet of fire, she couldn't help but think of last time. How dangerous it was and that Cedric Diggory died and Harry Potter one the cup after meeting with the dark lord. She always had concern for eveything.
She turned to Snape and watched him stare into the flames of the cup and couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking.
She started seeing the students arive in packs, and some on their own. The room was filling up quickly with the excited students. As the students were comming in and taking their seats, the goblets flames grew bigger..quite beautiful though.
The tables filled up quickly with a wide arangment of foods for the students and the staff. It was quite entertaining, even she was surprised.
There was a mad rush at the tables when the food arived. Minerva sat back down at her place setting and looked out over her students and had a bit of a quirk on her face.
She took her seat at the head table and looked over at snape and then back down towards her food and started to pick away at it. She was quite concerned, "what a time to be having a tournament" she thought to herself. The students seemed happy about it, so that made her a bit more at ease.

Charles was extremely excited and extremely nervous all at once. The combination was making him vaguely nauseous. However, he walked into the great hall with a bounce in his step and sat down at the Ravenclaw table.
He had heard all about the previous Triwizard Tournament and wondered why they were doing another one in such dark times, not that he didn’t want to be the Ravenclaw champion, but man, it was a crazy idea.
Charles felt that he had the brains and wand talent to compete, but there were many much more capable people in the school and he had a vague feeling that he wouldn’t get it. He wasn’t going to cry if he didn’t get in though, it would be a mixed blessing.
He listened to what Professer McGonagall had to say, his stomach full of butterflies. Then, when she was finished, he began to slowly pick at his food, not overly hungry.

Delphi Jaymesinn, who preferred to go by her middle name, Emma, bounced into the Great Hall chatting loudly with a few friends who stood around her. She stopped when she saw the Goblet, and grinned wildly at the memory of when she had entered. No else had been in the room, and she had simply walked up to the Goblet, slipped her note in the top, and silently the asked whatever Gods that might be listening to let her have this. The perfect chance to prove herself to her father. Her grin widened as she walked further into the room. She nodded respectfully at the few Professor's she had made eye contact with, and after parting with her Hufflepuff friends, she headed towards the Ravenclaw table.
"Good day, Charles." She smiled happily at the boy she had gone to Hogwarts with for six years, but hadn't gotten to know too well. She felt no apprehension at all. Whatever happened was meant to be. Ever so happy, she dug into yet another delicious Hogwarts feast.

Isolde felt like she was about to jump off of a cliff or something her heart was beating so fast. She couldn’t have told you why, except maybe that she was extremely hopeful of getting the chance to be the Ravenclaw champion for the Triwizard Tournament. Ever since she had been a younger girl she had loved to do things. Things that were exciting, dangerous, strange, or even just fun. She had gone into dangerous situations due to her curiosity countless times and her amazing ability to turn fear into curiosity made it hard for her to be scared.
That didn’t mean she couldn’t be nervous.
Just then she was walking down the Ravenclaw table, looking for a place to sit. She finally found a nice, empty part of the bench and she sat. Soon, her fingers were drumming on the table as she sat in nervous excitement, she had never had the chance to do anything like the Triwizard Tournament before and was insanely hopeful that she could get in.
The day before she had put her name in the cup with the drama of an actress in front of some fellow students before slipping away to her dorm where she hardly slept a wink. It seemed that the lack of sleep hadn’t impacted her energy though and the seventeen year old could barely keep still.

ooc; iPad post, so I am SO SORRY for all the typos.
bic; Antony Thorne did not, as a rule, rejoice with merry smiles and thoughts of joy and kindness unto others. Even if he hadn't been in Slytherin house such behaviour would have been completely unacceptable to him, although he would admit with startling ease that yes, the serpent crest on his robes certainly did deter him flouncing into the Great Hall like some fairy tale creature - or at least like the Ravenclaws he had seen recently.
Still, as he watched the others run, hop, and skip through the entryway, he did acknowledge their happiness, and he even went so far as to see a reason for it.
Although the Triwizard Tournament was originally meant to be between three wizards from three opposing schools, Antony was smart enough to know that this was not an option fr them right now - not with Voldemort's ascension to power, a thought that left a distinctly sour taste in the sixth year Slytherin's mouth. Certainly he was as tired of this as anyone else, pureblood or not (and the Thornes were well-known in the circle of purebloods), and he didn't see very many benefits to fighting a madman's war.
Antony smirked. He thought about this like they even had a choice.
His eyes flickering to the food tha was placed in front of him, Antony took a small bite, content to survey the others for the time being.

The meal was over. Many students finished their deserts quickly under the eager eyes of others. When everyone had finished eating and the dishes had all been cleared away, the lights were dimmed and very quickly there was silence. Severus stood and his face was cast in blue light. As Headmaster, it was his duty to introduce the event and the Champions as well as go over the rules. Severus thought back to the last Triwizard and how he had sat up here listening to Albus doing this not so long ago.
He cleared his throat and began to speak. "This evening, as everyone already is aware, is the opening of the Triwizard Tournament." He paused and looked over the students. "First thing we the rules. If you are chosen to be a Champion, you volunteered yourself. If you are chosen, you are bound to the Tournament. This is not something to be taken lightly. There will be three tasks involved. The first test your sense of humanity and your will to survive. The second your stealth and perseverance. Lastly, the third will challenge your stamina, you mind and wand abilities."
It was then that the flames grew brighter. "Champions," Severus said now. "When your name is called, stand up and make your way through that door. It was the a door leading to the trophy room. Severus pointed to the door to the right of the Head Table. Moment later, one of the flames shoot higher than the rest carrying a piece of parchment. As the parchment lifted of the flame, Severus caught it.
'For the Hufflepuff House, Delilah Angles." There was cheering from the Hufflepuff table. A second parchment came from the goblet. "For the Ravenclaw House, Delphi Jaymesinn." And so it went. The Slytherin House Champion was Anthony Thorn and for the third time, there was a groups of cheers. When the final name came, all eyes went to the Gryffindor table.
Severus glanced at the parchment and opened his mouth to speak and then closed it in surprise. A few moments went by before he attempted to speak again. "The champion for Gryffindor House is...Neville Longbottom?" He looked up at Neville with a stunned look in his eyes. Was this a joke? The most accident prone student in the school was a champion? There was a silent delay from the students and the clapping that started very slowly and then grew to cheers.
Severus stood there a bit longer and then said "well, there it is..." He moved to step around his chair and then moved towards the trophy room.

Delilah was starting to get to know the school now thanks to Adam's help. She was also starting to make more friends here as the time went on. When this Triwizard Tournament had been mentioned, at first Delilah was confused. She had never so much as heard of a Triwizard let alone seen one. Now she was was a little excited and a little nervous about it and the fact that she was old enough to partake.
She had entered her name into the goblet last night but by the time she had gotten to her Common Room, she was nervous. What had she been thinking? Could she handle this? She had been told it was dangerous. She had been told what had happened last time. But at the same time, this was her moment of Glory if she was selected. Delilah's sleep had been broken that night and the next days classes seemed to pass by in a blur.
Before she knew it it was time for the opening of the event. Delilah dropped her books off in her dorm and then headed downstairs. There were other students in the great hall and it was starting to get loud. Delilah took a seat beside Adam and then started to help herself to food. By the time she had finished eating the lights had dimmed and the Headmaster stood. As he spoke, Delilah grew more and more nervous.
When the first name was drawn and the Headmaster had said it was Hufflepuff, Delilah closed her eyes and her stomach churned. Please not me... she said to herself. But it did not help. She heard her name and the cheering. Delilah felt ill. She stood slowly on legs that felt too weak to hold her. Delilah made her way to the Head Table and the turned to move into the trophy room. She was terrified.

Alexis had been out by the lake when things were just getting settled and started in the Great Hall for the Triwizard Tournament. She wondered why a tournament on such dark times like these, but figured it would give students something to do instead of thinking about such times. She rushed back into the school and to the Great Hall. It was starting to sprinkle outside and so she wanted to get inside before it really started raining. She adjusted her hair and shirt once inside and stepped through the doors of the Great Hall. It was filling up with students, and just as she walked in, she heard the announcement for the Gryffindor champion; Neville.
She was kind of shocked and bummed out at the same time. She had put her name into the cup a day prior and hoped that she would be able to compete in the tournament; give herself something to talk about other than classes and the bad times the world was in now-a-days. She thought to herself, Longbottom is champion?! Are you kidding me? He is about as worthless and clumsy as Weasley.
She took a seat at the Gryffindor table and poured herself a glass of pumpkin juice and filled her plate with the variety of food that was laid out for the students that evening.

Damien had just entered the Great Hall just as Professor Snape was saying the names of the champions. With his dark demeanor and stature, he walked up to the head table and took a seat; acknowledging a hello both McGonagoll and Snape. He was rather excited to see how each of the champions did in the tournament, and when the names were called he nodded at each of them thinking that all had potential; except Neville; Damien just was not sure about the boy sometimes as not many people were. But, being an official, he would try to help any of the champions as much as he could.
(sorry so short...muse is low tonight)

Neville walked into the great hall just as the feast was about to begin. He took a seat at the Gryffendor table, grabbed his plate and made himself right at home. As he was eating, he couldn't help shake the feeling of deja-vu although he had been through this tournament before. That was when Harry potter became champion, and when Cedric Diggory died when the dark lord returned. "I wonder what will happen this time" he said to his fellow Gryffendor's.
He noticed that Snape was about to speak. He stood at his seat at the head table right infront of the Goblet Of Fire. Now that it was time for everything to start, all the food and dishes were cleared off of all that tables. Neville happend to grab a piece of chicken before it was all gone...he was quite hungry. The Goblet of fire grew quite a large flame and was glowing a bright blue color. Snape started with the introduction and then the rules. Then he moved onto the 3 tasks. By this time Neville had drifted off. He had been through this before. It's not like he had to pay close attention. Even though he threw his name into the goblet of fire...he knew he would never be choosen. Snape then started anouncing the winner's.
Neville watched as the first piece of parchment flew out of the goblet in excitement. The hall was roaring with cheer as the first 3 houses were choosen. Neville didn't care...he was thinking of how much fun he had at the grande ball at the last Tri Wizard Tournament. He did love to dance. Then Neville heard Snape say his house name, and he listened closely to get ready to cheer. When Snape just started to announce the winner for Gryffendor, he took a bite of his chicken that he was holding onto, because no one would notice he was eating when everyone would be clapping for Gryffendor House. " And for Gryffendor House" Snape said to the students, and what should have been an answer became to be quite a long pause.
"Neville Longbottom" Snape said in dissbelief. When Neville heard his name called out as one of the champions, he litrally choked on a piece of chicken in his mouth. Everyone was startled. A kid who still wasn't very good at spells was selected as a Tri Wizard Champion?. A couple students were wacking Neville on his back and the peice of chicken spat out on the Gryffendor that was opposite of Neville. "Sorry about that" he replied in complete shock. Neville looked like he was going to throw up then and there. Once he relized that he was selected all the Gryffendor house started to cheer loudly.
Neville then slowly walked down the hall and towards the trophy room where all the selected champions had to meet. As he was walking he made sure that he waved to all of his fellow classmates, as he had a very disturbing look on his face. He looked completely frightened.

Delphi didn't eat much. No, not because of nerves, but because she simply couldn't stop talking. She wasn't annoying or anything, she just liked to engage in multiple conversations at once. She was at heart, a social butterfly. She laughed and talked with her fellow Ravenclaw's waiting for it all to end. After what seemed like hours, the plates seemed to disappear and everyone turned towards the Headmaster.
He seemed to drone on and on about the rules and task. Professor Snape finally began naming the first Champion. Delphi clapped respectfully and waited with baited breath as he began to say the Ravenclaw Champions name.
"Delphi Jaymesinn."
Most would probably be shocked if it had been them, or it would have taken a second to don on them, but not Delphi. As soon as he got halfway through her name she knew.
"Oh sweet Jesus!" She said in excitement, and then blushed. Luckily only a few around her could hear her. She blushed as her house clapped for her and then excitedly rose from her seat. Professor Cromwell nodded his head in her direction and she nodded back, smiling brightly.
Delphi all but skipped to the trophy room, a happy smile on her face.

Antony's reaction to his name being called was to incline his head, black pupils widening within grey-blue irises as a reaction to the light he was now facing. Of course he was surprised, why wouldn't he be? Being one of the chosen few out of hundreds of others was nothing short of a miracle, and Antony was easily intelligent enough to know that.
Raising one black eyebrow, Antony turned his head to survey his fellow Champions even as he rose from his seat, everything about him the very picture of an icy sculpture - nothing out of place, very calm, very collected, and confident without seeming arrogant. Why would he be arrogant, after all?
His steps measured and even, not too fast and certainly not too slow, Antony made his way towards the indicated room, pausing to nod back to one of the professors before passing through the doorway and leaving the roar of the students behind him.
Delilah Angeles, the Hufflepuff, was a girl with pale skin, brown hair, and large brown eyes - almost like something you would expect to see in a catalogue for porcelain dolls. Delphi Jaymesinn, the Ravenclaw, was more sturdy looking, with dark red hair and eyes lined with black. Neville Longbottom needed no introduction - everyone who had ever taken potions knew of his blundering, but Antony wouldn't be the one caught underestimating his companions. His brother had told him that this was the worst mistake one could make in competitions.
"Size them up, Antony, but never discount them." Far be it from the Slytherin boy to ignore advice that he had relied on his whole life.

Neville walked towards Snape and all the Proffesor's on his way to the trophey room. He was feeling so sick to his stomach. He couldn't believe that he was selected for the Tri Wizard Tournament. "I'm going to die for sure" he said to himself.
He was then standing with all the champions as they were now in the trophey room. Neville looked at all the champs and noticed Deliliah..A Hufflepuff. Delphi, A Ravenclaw that he knew quite well, and Antony....A Slytherin. No slytherin ever liked Neville Longbottom.
" How are we all feeling about this?" he asked that champions as he turned to them all and faceing them. "I'm feeling rather sick myself" he stated once more to them. He turned and went more into the trophey room. " I think I will take a seat and wait to see what comes next", he stated as he found a chair and plopped himself in it.

Minerva was quite shocked when she heard Neville's name called out as a Tri Wizard Champion. She didn't know what to think. What she did know is that she had taught Neville for many years, and he does stuggle with a few things that would probably be key to the tournament but she was always confident in him. She stood up at her place setting has all the champions made their way to the trophey room ,and watched them all closely ecpecially Longbottom. "He looks like he is going to throw up" she thought to herself. She looked up at all the students in the great hall, and started to give her instructions.
" The Tri Wizard revealing is now over...please give a round of applause for our champions. All the students started to clap and cheer. "Now if you all could please go to your common rooms for the rest of the evening and get ready for bed". The stuents made a fuss of course because who wants to go to bed after something so exciting. "Pip Pip" she stated and then all of the students cleared the great hall. Now she wanted to greet the champions herself.
Minerva walked into the trophey room where she saw the final 4 tri wizard champs. She walked up to them all with a big smile on her face. "I want to give my congradulations to you all" she said to the champs. "I'm sure you will all do a great". she noticed Neville sitting all by himself on a chair looking rather ill still. "Even you Longbottom".
