Severus sat in his chair at the Staff table and watched as the students entered. This would have been like any other evening if not for the sudden lack of magic. Severus was still having trouble coming to terms with it as was everyone else. Severus had found the change in events this morning when he had awoken. His wand refused to do anything. It would not light the fire in the fire place, it would not turn on the lights, it would do nothing. A house elf appeared at his chamber door with his morning meal. Knocking instead of just appearing.
Now here, in the Great Hall, House elves moved among the students carrying trays of food and bowls and jugs. Magic was not working at all. Even the large enhanced ceiling was just plain stone and wood. Even the staircases no longer moved. Many students had taken to using hidden passageways to get about. Severus did not understand what had happened. But it was not just happening here.
He had gotten reports by owl that it was happening in Hogsmead and Diagon Alley and all the wizarding homes. He shuttered to think of what The Dark Lord was doing right now. Thankfully, the Dark Mark was not working either. Severus was not sure about this last part but he assumed that the Dark Lord would have tried to surround himself with his followers. The noise volume in here was deafening as everyone was talking about then loss of magic. Students and Staff alike. One thing kept going through his mind as well. With no magic, the castle was exposed. Any Muggle would be able to see it as it is. Any Muggle would be able to enter.

Alexis had been through all sorts of weird and wacky stuff in her life, but nothing like this. She was talking a stroll through the courtyards, messing with a few harmless Charms when everything stopped working, her charms she was coming up with would not work. She headed towards the Great Hall since it was almost time for the feast, wondering what the heck was going on. As she walked into the Hall, she could see the ceiling was still, the elves were actually bringing the food to the tables as waiters would do. She took a seat at the Gryffindor table, looking around at the other students who seemed to be a bit puzzled as well as to what was going on.
The elves brought them their food so they could attempt to enjoy the feast as they would normally with magic, but something did not feel right, and to Alexis, when something did not feel right usually meant something was wrong. What was going on? Why was there no magic? What would happened with the school now that it would not be protected and hidden from muggle eyes? These thoughts ran through her head as an elf poured her a glass of pumpkin juice and filled her plate with food.

Cory Citro certainly wasn't the first person to realize the loss of their magical abilities. He had been reading by himself in a chair in one of the corners of the hufflepuff commonroom. He had finished his new book, and as he picked up his wand from his lap to retreive another book of his across the room, it would not work. He tried multiple times, and after feeling stupid, he thought to try it on something elce. He stood up, walked a few feet away from the chair and turned back to it. Hanging on the top was his sweater. He pointed his wand and said "Accio" but it did not come to him. He tried it again. It still did not move. He decided to check with someone. He looked around the commonroom and noticed that there was nobody. He shrugged. 'Guess I got to caught up with my reading I didn't notice anybody leaving. Wonder if this is happening elcewhere....' he thought to himself as he left the commonroom.
Cory soon arrived at the Great Hall to find that almost the whole school had shown up. The room was exceedingly loud, and everybody seemed to be confused and distraught. Cory sat himself at the farthest end of the Hufflepuff table, and watched.

Stella laid back in one of the sofa's, kicking her legs up to relax. Of course, in her eyes it had bee a long and restless day. Always moving from one place to another in a school that size was a pain. Pulling her long golden curls to one side, she pulled her wand from her pocket. It was time she conjured up some sort of spell to relieve her feet. After all, she deserved it. Being up on the last floor wasn't the best of climbs. Raising her wand, she mumbled a little something, but nothing had happened. Her wand wasn't working. "What on earth!" She screeched. Had she lost her powers? What was going on? Jumping from her seat, she hurried to look around the common room. Plenty of students had been hurrying out of the common room.
In a lick of panic, she followed behind them, constantly asking what had been going on. She was lost. Never in her life had she ever experienced something like this. As soon as they made it to the hall, she stopped. All of the tables had been severely packed with students. Taking in a deep breath, she followed behind a few Gryffindor's and took her seat. "Anyone know what on earth is going on?" Taking her shoe off, she began to slowly rub her feet. It was the only thing she could do now, since her wand had decided to fail on her. Glancing all over again, she watched as a couple of elves began to make their way out and towards the tables. There was absolutely no magic.
As she sat there for a bit, she watched as more and more people bombarded through the doors. Plenty irritated, other confused, and some that didn't seem like they knew anything had happened. Leaning back, she looked towards the front where the Headmaster had stood. Now, she was a little worried. Something was wrong. And she didn't like it.

Alexis looked around the Great Hall, which was filling up rather quickly with students and staff all with looks upon their faces on what the heck had happened. She even saw the Slytherins, who never seemed to look or be worried, all looking worried. She then turned her attention to the front of the room, at the staff table, directly towards the Headmaster, also her father, and she could tell and Alexis could tell he was worried, primarily due to the fact that Hogwarts was exposed, to anyone.
She looked around at her own house table when she saw Stella enter. Smiling a bit, she called over towards her as she made her way down the table to sit by her. "Hey Stella! Are you as puzzled as I am," she replied sitting next to her, "I really hope that no muggle enters the school. Although that could be interesting to see how everyone reacts to a muggle entering Hogwarts, regardless if we can do magic right now or not."

Stella brought her head back to the table. Biting down slightly on her lower lip, she glanced over to the rest of the table. A few people sown sat Alexis Snape. Obviously Severus's daughter. With one of her friendly smiles, Stella patted the empty stop right next to her, inviting her to take a seat. It was nice to have friends like her, since she had always listened to her problems. "Oh trust me, I am beyond puzzled. And my feet are KILLING me!" She pouted, kicking her shoes off once more. All the worried began to fill her mind as she had listened to Alexis' theory of the muggles. If they were to find out about Hogwarts, they would all be in for a world of hurt.
Pulling out her wand, she sat it on the table in front of them both. Her eyes still glancing it over. Maybe it was just worn out. But then again, they couldn't get like that. Nor could it be her own that had worn out. Looking up to her, she began to get all nerved up. "If they do find out about us, wouldn't that give Lor- well, you know who, more power against us. Or is he without just like we are?" Puzzling herself like usual, she looked back to the Slytherin table. Finally, the 'hard-asses' weren't so 'hard' after all. Chuckling, she pointed to them, until she had seen more of the come piling in. Plenty making snugged gestures towards her.
Closing her eyes, she turned back to the table. If only her wand had worked for that brief second. Stella was always willing to give them a run for their money. She couldn't stand them at all. The way they had treated every other house. Pathetic.

When he had 'woken' that morning unable to perform even the most basic spell, the first thought that had occurred to Mordred Haemon had been that his wand had decided to malfunction again, something it hadn't done since he had first gotten it and tried to grapple with its unique and very rare vampire fang core. His father had warned him in his cryptic way that it would do this, but at the same time it the wand had chosen him, likely due in part to the fact that vampiric blood ran easily through his veins. It had taken him months to grapple it into submission, but once he had it had worked wonderfully, so it was particularly irksome when it refused to even perform a simple summoning spell.
Nothing felt different, though, which led him to his next thought - one that chilled him to the bone, though he would never admit it. There was always the very real possibility that his part-vampire heritage would interfere with his magic, eventually rendering him unable to perform it at all. It had been a constant source of fear for him ages thirteen to sixteen, but when he his seventeen he had figured it was okay to relax; that he wouldn't lean further to any one side. So when his roommate had gotten up and found his own magic had also refused to work, the first emotion Mordred had felt was a bone-shattering relief that had sent him falling back numbly onto the blue sheets of his bed, red-blue eyes staring straight up as he resisted the urge to roll around in glee.
Of course, the realization that his roommate's magic had been affected was enough to dampen his enthusiasm, and within fifteen minutes he and William had joined the rest of their house in the Ravenclaw tower, where they had been greeted with the statement that it hadn't been just them, and that none of the other Ravenclaws could wield that which had become second nature to them, not even Mordred's fellow seventh years. It had been at that point that Laurie Dixon, one of the fourth years, had suggested they all go downstairs to the main hall to see what was going on, Will whispering that it could have been a prank played on them by one of the other houses. To be greeted with the news that all magic everywhere had failed was enough to make Mordred feel physically ill, the sensation akin to being around garlic or standing in the sun too long.
He had placed himself at the Ravenclaw table without word, sparing a couple seconds to glare and momentarily bare his teeth at the two or three who had chosen to curl their lips up at him in disgust. The pleasure he felt at watching them flinch likely meant he was a bad person, but at this current moment he didn't care. How could he when something this big was going on?

Taylor was out practicing his severing charm on trees nearby the entrance to the forbidden forest when it happened. "Diffindo!" he said, but there was no mark left in the tree. He mentally cast the spell, then cast it aloud again. Why was it not working? He tried another spell. "Uh, Lumos?" and yet no light came from his wand. Damn. What was going on? He tried again. Still nothing. He wondered if Mordred was having the same problem. So he decided to walk back to the castle. He went to the staircases to go up to Ravenclaw tower, but they would not move to the correct path.
Taylor got a little worried. Perhaps he'd try the Great Hall? As he neared the Great Hall, he could hear alot of voices coming from it. As he turned to walk in, he saw almost the whole school. He looked for an open spot at the ravenclaw table. He saw his friend Mordred, and of course, as always, there was almost enough room on the table around him to lay down. But he'd never do that. Least, not while he was without magic. He calmly walked over, hands in his pockets. "Hey Mordred. So it's safe to assume that everybody is having the same problems that I'm having?" he said as he took his regular spot to the right of Mordred.

In a customary greeting Mordred had developed ever since the first jibe at his half-breen status, the seventh year bared his teeth at the newcomer, though he had heard his distinctive footsteps even before the fifth year Ravenclaw had called out to him. Beside him, Will raised an eyebrow, casting an oblong glance at his half-vampire companion before he returned to his meal with a very audible chuckle, one that made Mordred reach over and dig his nails into the other's, which Will - good sport that he was - responded to by lightly prying his fingers off. Priss.
"If you're referring to a sudden inability to perform magic, then yes, at least from what I've heard," Mordred said then, turning to fix narrowed eyes on Taylor before he jerked his head towards where Headmaster Snape sat. "The professors are panicking because without magic Hogwart's defences are down, meaning any passing muggle could see the school and walk right in." As a test he withdrew his yew wand, waving it a little in a spell that would have caused Will's hair to fall out had it decided to work. "The hell, Mordred?" Will exclaimed, glaring balefully at him. Mordred just sent him a minuscule smile, saying nothing. "See? Nothing." "It wasn't nothing this morning when you woke me up in a panic because you thought your vampire blood had rendered you unable to do magic," Will pointed out, and Mordred kind of wanted hit him with something. Still, all he did in response was shrug, turning back to Taylor. "It's a legitimate concern and fear," he said wryly.

"Yeah, untill we get out magic back, then we just erase all their memories. The system's broken enough for it to work..." he said as if the topic bored him. He didn't say anything about Mordred's little antics, as he didn't much care for Will. "Besides, whatever's going on in the ol' headmaster's head, he's sure not about to tell us. He'll probably wind up telling us to wait this out, and hope that our loss of magic is temporary....I wonder if Voldemort is having the same problems." he said it simply, knowing that it would not cause a problem, because the taboo couldnt be in effect if no other magic was either. He turned to his half-breed associate. "Hmph, it seems like even in these strange times, people are finding a way to be ignorant towards your kind. I wouldn't be surprised if eventualy some arrogant slytherin starts blaming other races." he slipped out his wand and flicked it about, pointing it at the Slytherin table, and mentally casting curses, knowing they wouldn't work anyways. But it entertained him to image their results.

Mordred snickered darkly, the sound that emerged akin to a pleased hiss which, in retrospect, it probably was, whether r not he intended it to be or not. His fangs were permanent, after all - very permanent - and had in fact been the deciding factor that ended with his father taking his younger self from his mother's family estate to live in a full-blown vampire coven. The fact that this could have affected the vampire:human ratio of his blood had occurred to him many times as well, but the way he figured it...
Well. It hardly mattered.
Out of the corner of his eye he saw some of the other Ravenclaws stiffen involuntarily, though the reactions he got from the Gryffindors and Slytherins (namely pale, scowling faces and expression of disapproval and disgust, respectively) were far more potent, and were enough to warrant him baring his teeth at them once before returning his smug gaze to Taylor.
"From what I understand this is happening everywhere. I'll bet the Dark Lord isn't too happy about suddenly being unable to use his magic," the half-vampire said. "But a mass-sighting by muggles could prove disastrous," he admitted, though his friend's next question made him repeat the half-hiss-half-laugh from earlier. "Of course they are," came the sneering response. "What they don't know scares the shit out of them, and I'm willing to bet the majority of them don't know jack about me. Hell, I don't even know everything about me. It's kind of a paradox. A really annoying one. One that ends in me wanting hurt people. Trust me when I say it's not as fantastic as it seems, either."

Cory was minding his business when he looked up to see Hannah staring at him. He raised an eyebrow and gave her a 'what? do I have something on my face?" look. But her face looked sincere. He wondered why she looked so sad. Maybe her thing with the wibble-wobbers failed. He stood up, book in hand, and walked over to her. But she seemed preoccupied with other people. Cory looked down to his book and kept reading. 'and then, it happened...' he read, eyes widening as a possible cliffhanger revealed itself. He heard a large ripping noise and looked up. Hannah seemed to be bright red. "Hannah?" he asked. then he saw it, a tear on her skirt. He noticed some slytherins were laughing. 'Stupid snakes...if only I had magic, I'd repair it...'he thought to himself. Just then, someone from the ravenclaw table said something that attracted alot of nearby student's attention. Now was his chance. He blushed a little as he tapped Hannah by the shoulder "Um...H-Hannah? If you need to..um..go, now would be the time.." he said, making way for her.

Taylor shrugged as he kept attempting curses on people. "Magic is the new religeon. It's a weapon people use when they fear the unexpained or unatural. I just wish the Slytherins knew their place. Since Snape became headmaster, they've all let power go to their heads...it's pathetic, really....like they're all pawns in Voldemorts hands anyways. If only they knew how little their lives mean to their 'hero'" he said with disgust as he realized he'd run out of very harmful spells to try casting. He tried something less harmful and maybe more embarrassing. The Tickling charm, which he casted at a 7th year Slytherin. He laughed. Taylor rose from his seat, shocked. He looked to his wand. "Wait, do I have magic again?" perhaps he said it a tad louder than he should have, because people everywhere started to start talking to him, wanting to see if he could do anything. "Um....Lumos." he said but no light came from his wand. " Ugh...shows over, I guess." he said as he sat back down next to Mordred. "What about Harry Potter? How's he suspossed to find a way to beat the Dark Lord if he can't do magic either....man, if Dumbledore was here, he'd explain."

Stuffing a small piece of bread into her mouth, she began to chow down. As if she hadn't ate in days. Trying not to make her obnoxious eating obvious, she turned in the other direction. It was a good thing her metabolism was right where she had needed it, or else she would have been showing how much she would eat. Picking her head back up, she looked over to a fellow Gryffindor and smiled. Obviously he had seen her animal like eating. "Sorry about that." She chuckled. "Im just really hungry for some reason. Possibly the stress." Biting the inside of her cheek, she turned to look at the Slytherin table who happened to be roaring in laughter.
Confused, Stella turned to see where one of the obnoxious pricks had been pointing. Her eyes widened as she watched Hannah Abbott with her face buried in the palm of her hand. Then there she had noticed the god awful rip in her skirt. Just what someone had needed. Taking her eyes off of her, she looked back to the Slytherins who were now making loud, and disrespectful comments. Shaking her head in disgust, Stella flew from the Gryffindor table over to the Hufflepuff.
Stella knew what it was like to be royally embarrassed, and she wasn't going to allow someone else go through it alone. Pulling out her wand, she aimed it at the Slytherin table, not thinking of course. "Densaugeo!" She bellowed out, trying to enlarge one of the big mouths teeth. But it wasn't working. 'Dammit'. She thought putting her wand back into her pocket. A few Slytherin's began to laugh again. So in the moment, Stella copied them with a light chuckle and shafted them. For a Gryffindor, she was somewhat like her own person. Having a backbone was one of the best things ever.
Standing in front of Hanna, she grabbed her by the arm and pulled her close. "Here." She said, handing over her robe. It was the only thing she could really do. "I'm not going to let those snots poke at you." Yes, Stella had a big heart and she knew darn well how to use it. She knew what it was like to get pushed around by the bunch. And it hurt, deeply. Looking back to the Ravenclaw table, she watched as a random boy had attempted to make a distracction as well. It was a good try, but neither of them had working wands. Placing her hand on Hannah's back, Stella let off a sigh. "Hannah, I watch what that Nott boy does to you." She shook her head. If only she could really help the girl. But she too wasn't all that 'tough' to get face to face.

Alexis had been talking with Stella and watched as she stuffed a mouth full of food. She laughed a bit as she knew that Stella was known to do that on occasion. "Careful there girly, don't want to choke on your food now do we," she replied as she looked over at some fellow Gryffindors just staring in their direction, "Hey! Mind your own business will ya." Alexis, yes was in Gryffindor, but she tended to have the attitude of a Slytherin and so, therefore, was often rude to others but kind to her friends. At that moment, she saw Stella fly over towards the Hufflepuff table out of the corner of her eye.
Standing up as well, she spotted Hannah Abbott, one whom she tolerated but was not quite sure how to come about her just yet. Alexis and Hannah had their moments of rivalry if you call it that and it sometimes came down to playful jinxes and such, thankfully, magic was gone so she would have to worry about that very much just maybe a few taunts here and there.
When Alexis approached Stella and Hannah, Stella was just getting a Slytherin to stop bugging Hannah. She did not say anything to Hannah at first, but she would soon perhaps. Alexis wondered if Hannah had thought that Alexis was this miss goody goody, who father was Professor and Headmaster of the school and so she could get her way with anything. Which, of course, was not the case at all, but all her life, Alexis has had it rough somedays with growing up especially at Hogwarts...she would get teased by others and friended by others. It just depended on the day.
